    Warning: Thread Derail Ahead...

Anyone remember the Seinfeld episode where George is a guest at a baby shower, the fire alarm for the building rings, and he pushes, shoves all the ladies out of the way to scramble his butt out the door? Even the preggers one?
The devil whispered in my ear, "You cannot withstand the storm." I whispered back, "I am the storm."

Remember the plane captain that landed in the Hudson? He was the last one out. He walked that sinking plane to make sure ALL were out. And he refused to leave the wing of the plane until ALL passengers were gone. THAT is a captain of a vessel. This other guy? Coward. Show off. "Ladies man" who thinks he is above it all but would be the first to hold a child in front of him if threatened.

I don't tend to assume what society says is correct.

According to their created tradition, he's a coward. I guess he is, perhaps, regardless of tradition.

And anyone questioning why a captain would not stay to make sure 4200 people he was in charge of were safely removed....I dunno. That is just strange to me. What's to question????

It doesn't concern me much. I'm just here to watch the hysteria.

If you ever have kids and a wife that you adore is on a ship, I hope you don't get someone like that cruise captain. And I hope you would never do what that captain did, either.

Yes, he is a coward. The worst kind.

Nice to know. I'll be sure to avoid you from now on and not converse with you in future. Thanks for the warning.

While the captain was ashore giving television interviews, four men -- a doctor, a young official, the ship's purser and the deputy mayor of the Giglio island, who boarded the ship after the disaster -- saved about 500 trapped passengers.

Overhead Bin - Scorned cruise ship captain not alone in history
