Obama to ask for increase to debt ceiling in a 'matter of days'

Raising the debt ceiling now was a foregone conclusion. Whether it was the GOP blowing big bucks while they had Congress and the WH, or what the Dems have done since. It was a joint effort creating this mess.

But what is for certain is that if Obama is reelected, it won't get better. That pusilanimous liberal pipsqueak is the biggest disaster ever in the WH. He has to go, and we need a Congress dominated by better folks than we have had lately.

It's going to get better no matter who is elected, unless it's a lunatic who starts another idiotic war. In fact it's already getting better. The deificit was lower last year than the year before, and it's going to be lower this year than it was last year.

It is getting worse. We are on the brink of war...again, and our spending doesn't even make sense. There is no plan that is being enacted in order to save ourselves financially. And for that matter, most of the world.

We're not on the brink of war. Stop watching the Republican debates. They'll give you nightmares.

I thought this next $1.2t was already set aside. BHO merely has to ask to get it. This was to extend the limit to the end of 2012. I think the real battle is the next round of debt ceiling neogotiations.

While I do not like the above quote, it is also my understanding that BO merely needs ask.

That Obama is not as atrocious this year as last is not the stuff of celebration. He owns the three highest deficits ever, which makes him 3 for 3. After this year, he will own the four highest ever. If reelected, he will own the eight highest ever. His own projections, which are too "pie in the sky" , already project such.

This is like taking a crap in a field of daisies, and having someone say "yeah, but if you use your imagination, it don't stink".

Most presidents own the highest deficits ever when they're in office. Bush did, Reagan did, etc.

No. Not for every year they do not. And not at twice the next closest.

Can anyone here link me to the post by a DP lib actually admitting that Obama sucks ?

Yeah they do. You're just getting tricked by a misleading stat. We play with bigger numbers every year. Inflation, the GDP grows, etc. So naturally the deficits get bigger. If you want to make comparisons across time you would need to look at deficit as a percentage of GDP and then Obama's highest year barely makes the top 10.

But...but...but...Clinton had a surplus????

He did at the end. Not sure if he ever had a record breaking deficit at the start though. Maybe. With inflation and GDP growth it's pretty rare that a president doesn't have at least one year that breaks the record in terms of absolute dollars.

That's just not true, the only years that beat Obama was WWII 1942-1945. Using this metric, Clinton had a higher deficit in 1993 than Bush ever had.

The Cato Institute says 2009 deficit belongs to Bush so he holds the record deficit still. Budgets are not for 1 year either, most programs are continuous expenses. No President added to those programs more than Bush....and no President grew Govt. more. He added more public employees too. Then his policies crashed the economy and revenues went in the toilet. We will get out of this but we will need 18% of GDP in Revenue to do it. Nothing can change that, so stop your whining. The time to do that was years ago and you missed the boat. You probably were flipping houses in Bush's bubble.

Okay, we'll give 2009 to Bush (even though the 2009 stimulus added to those deficits), it still puts 2010 and 2011 near the top (and the all-time top if you ignore WWII) in terms of deficit as a % of GDP.

  1. I never defended Bush nor his spending policies, I'm sorry you are so obsessed with hating the man.
  2. You continue to blame Bush policies for sinking the economy in 2008, something you have refused to elaborate on.
  3. I'm not whining, I didn't miss any boats, and I'm not a real estate speculator. Try and seperate partisan ideology from real people, it will make you much more enjoyable at parties in the future.
