Officials say multiple tanker cars are burning after a freight train derailed in northwest Indiana.

Porter County Emergency Management Director Phil Griffith says no injuries have been reported and no evacuations are planned as a result of the derailment that happened about 1:45 p.m. Friday near Valparaiso.

Griffith says all train personnel have been accounted for.

Which is good news. I grew up about 10 miles from the crash site, so this hit home rather quick as many friends and family routinely use the South Shore to get to and from Chicago on a daily basis.

Does this mean it's time for a train moratoreum?
