PetroChina buys entire Alberta oilsands project

You assume that people are that irresponsible with their money? [...]
You assume that everyone drives a 14-year-old F-150? Your anecdote is worthless... how many $40K and up cars do you think are sold every year? None? :lamo

Matter of fact, weren't you on the road ahead of me on the interstate yesterday? If that bucket of bolts can't do the speed limit, get it back on the farm :2razz:

Nope, and I didn't say that either now did I? There are plenty of fools that are parted with their money for dumb gimmicks.

So, you're on what, your 4th set of ball joints? :lamo

Nope, I keep up the maintenance. That truck will run easily for another 5 years just fine thanks...Hey if you want to spend money you don't have, and go into debt for it so that you can think of yourself better than everyone else...go for it...I think it's stupid, but hey to each his own.

You see his plan is to spend all of his money now, so that when he retires he can get on the wagon and collect welfare checks from hard workers like you and me for the rest of his life.

No, our conversation began with me making a simple, factual statement, followed by your really bizarre reply that was, for the most part, totally out of touch with facts and reality, bringing us to this point where you have attributed statements to me that I have not made.

You make me laugh Karl... Its refreshing, it really is. I guess i should say thank you for restating our first couple of comments. You helped me prove just how expensive a solar system can be. Even with you wanting to buy the cheapest deep cycle battery you could find it still topped out at over 20k. And you still live in some world where it never gets cloudy... And we even discussed how little of the energy that hits the solar panel actually gets captured and converted into energy (thats the definition of ineffecient). Solar power is slowly getting better so i guess my comment about your system being obsolete in a few years was also correct! Not sure why you highlighted the part about spending 40 to 60k on a car and charger system cause thats what you would be spending... Did i miss anything?

Wonder how many ball joints you can buy for $40,000. ??

You know that the car costs $31,500 after rebate, right? That's about the same price as a loaded Maxima.

So, you're on what, your 4th set of ball joints? :lamo

Never had bad ball joints on the truck yet.... I know that's a common problem in the late 90's Dakota but not with mine.

pfft...What a jerk.
Inside jerk (joke), actually. The 2nd generation (1997-2004) Dodge Dakota/Durango had ball joint issues to the extent that there was a recall, an NHTSA investigation, and a class action suit. I previously owned a 1998 Dakota myself.

Feel more informed now?

You mean after tax payer subsidy? Not to mention that we the people are paying around $250,000 per car to produce.

To artificially goose Government Motors’ Chevy Volt sales, the Obama administration is not just handing $7,500 to its wealthy buyers (buyer demographic: incomes over $200,000) — it is also ghost-buying Volts via stimulus funds for townships and corporate cronies like General Electric. Including the federal government’s own purchases of the plug-in electric, some estimates put 20 percent of the Volt’s first-year sales as Big Government purchases.

So much for demand.

Now James Hohman at Michigan’s Mackinac Center has added up the numbers at the supply end and found the public subsidy for the Volt amounts to a $3 billion, putting the public subsidy per car at a whopping $250,000 per car.

Fine, with $40K you could by over 600 ball joints...I am sure that would more than solve that problem...But the real reason for your smugness was to look down your nose at those of us whom don't go out and buy some green rollerskate in support of a scam to create a currency out of thin air.

$20K is not a lot of money ;)

Pretty much everything, but it's all there for those who want to review :2wave:

Ummm, so China bought some oilfields, eh?

Oh, I dunno... the real reason could be a sense of elitism, intellectual superiority, or disdain for a demonstrated aversion to deductive reasoning. But those would all be considered items of an ad hominem personal nature, and what does that add to the discussion? Nothing, so let's just leave personal insults to those who have nothing else to contribute, hmm?

You'd be wise to do so.

$20K is not a lot of money
Speak for yourself.
Come to think of it, I did buy that 1998 Dakota new... $22,000 back then, adjusted for inflation (and we all know how bogusly low that figure is, eh?) would be $30,500 today. Getting into Volt territory, if only I could afford the $30,000 solar cigarette lighter charger :2razz:
