hardly
we can even see that he returned to 'like' your post in his defense
he is not anonymous. he is in hiding. running from the question for which he has no answer
but thanks to both of you for the laugh

Really? You know him personally? You know me? Don't be any more foolish than you already have demonstrated.

ii think we both know the poster who has been in hiding
you have defended him and, in my last post, i have exposed him
[while i believe it is misterman who has chided him for remaining in sequestration and refusing to answer the oft posed civics question]

Much like you did when you claimed that chambers of Congres routinely pass major bills from the other chamber without adding any amendments, and then promised to show us some examples, huh? Still waiting.

Bill Summary & Status - 112th Congress (2011 - 2012) - H.R.366 - CRS Summary - THOMAS (Library of Congress)

Bill Summary & Status - 112th Congress (2011 - 2012) - H.J.RES.44 - CRS Summary - THOMAS (Library of Congress)

Here's two from earlier this year. Neither seem routine, like naming post offices and such.

only pointing out that your focus on a poster's virtual anonymity has no bearing on this discussion
his slinking away to flee from his words does, however

So now we know why this bill was for only two months. This is going to get really ugly as Obama isn't going to get the money.

Obama to ask for debt limit hike: Treasury official

Obama is expected to ask for authority to increase the borrowing limit by $1.2 trillion

PUHLEEZE! spare us. So I guess to you if a poster you disagree with doesn't take your bait to goose chase down endless examples for you to dismiss out of hand, and make your diversion successful then you think you have something to get all excited about....Pathetic

Stop lying, they have no problem voting to increase taxes. In fact, their hero passed the largest peacetime tax in history: TEFRA.

Republicans have no problem with increasing taxation and regulations. This idea that they are antithetical to taxes and regulations is a big ****ing laugh that borders on insulting informed citizens.

Please stop your lies and insults.

You do realize that the vast majority of them have signed a pledge NOT to raise taxes under any circumstances, right?

The only person you have exposed is yourself.......

Running eh ??? If you failed to notice, very few of the almost 7,000 posts I've made in the 6 years I've been a member here were on weekends and nights. Those, ESPECIALLY the Christmas weekend holiday, are reserved for my family. I post when I have a few spare minutes during my workday. I will respond to the other poster's request (still trying to figure out why you think its any of your business) when I have time to research the question.

If I fail to find any corroborating evidence to support my statement, I'll man up and admit I was wrong. I know that is a foreign concept to you.

In politics, perception is more important than reality:

Just eight days away from the Iowa primary, President Obama’s poll numbers are suddenly beginning to surge. For the first time since the summer, his approval index rating is in the positives, meaning more people approve of the job he’s doing than disapprove.

Indeed, rather than hurting him, the payroll tax debacle seems to be the reason for the surge. The Republicans in the House did themselves no political favors by appearing obstinate, especially after the Senate passed their payroll tax bill 89-10. President Obama capitalized on the House GOP’s initial refusal, branding himself a tax-cutting champion of the middle class – which is exactly where he wants to be heading into 2012.

Well, first of all it isn't a payroll tax they are cuttng, it is the SS with holding. So tell me something people....Why was it the usual suspects in here during the Bush proposal to free up 3% of SS withholding to invest privately raised all kinds of screams, and BS, but Obama can offer a 33% give back that will end up spent with no return, and these same people say that is ok?

and you would - for a change - be correct
for you to man up and admit the mistake would be unexpected

Actually, he is going to get the money. The debt deal passed such that all Obama has do do is ask for it from the Treasury through 2012. He can only be denied if Congress passes a new bill which revokes that privilege. Obama can then veto it, the new bill, and unless they override the veto, he gets the money.

only require this post, from what, five days ago, to make my point:
I know this is a hard concept for you to grasp, but typing a short reply here and there doesn't take much time. Doing some research on the internet does.

It's obvious you've never looked on Thomas because it takes a little time to find anything there. You'll get your answer when I have time to look for it.

ss tax is a payroll tax.

So you are calling me a liar when I say that Republicans normally oppose tax hikes, but in this instance, prevented a tax cut from coming to the House floor? I just want you on the record before I destroy your argument.

thought this was a debate site
one where we use information to make our points
it is clear that the forum member was wrong in his assertions, and continued to stand on them even after being schooled in the civics lesson it was evident he needed
once cornered, he scurried away

if you do not choose to read my posts there is an easy way on this forum to avoid them; or, you can choose my method of skipping over the posts of those who have nothing of interest to you

Congress only needs to pass a disapproval resolution in the next 15 days, and its blocked. The President can normally veto resolutions, I don' think that's how its worded in the original bill( going to look at the text in a few ), but in the end it doesn't matter. 15 days is up on Jan 14th, and congress is out of session until the 17th.

Geez, wonder if the President timed his request......

All true. But Obama can veto the resolution, and then Congress needs 2/3rds. "The fix was in" ;)

Because perception is more important than reality in politics.

The SS witholding became a tax back when Lyndon Johnson put the funds in the general fund. Since then, the money has been spent on everything from welfare to war, just like any other tax.

Yep, you are correct( they used "enacted" rather than "passed both houses" on the disapproval resolution ), and on an interesting side note, the Budget Control bill actually requires both the House and the Senate to reconvene for the possibility of a vote within 2 days of receiving the request.
