    1. You don't even know what a "budget" is in this context.

    2. The House Republicans have passed PLENTY of short-term measures, son. It happens all the time. Don't even start with that crap. You don't know what you're talking about.

By that logic we'd make it permanent. It was always meant to be temporary. Why didn't Congress make it 2 years instead of 1, or more than that?

The Senate did a 2 month extension because the House hadn't acted yet and they were about to recess. That gave more time to work out a better compromise next year. That's perfectly reasonable. The House shouldn't blame the Senate for not acting until after the Senate adjourned.

The Senate has adjourned, that's why.

Thats what makes you 'that guy'. You still want to play these idiotic 'us' and 'them' games. You think I support one over the other...but that's only because you mindlessly and doggedly defend democrats no matter what.

yeah boy...that senate...they have been rock stars havent they.

Both parties lock themselves into a room for a month and cant agree to basic cuts. They trumpet a measly few billion in DEFICIT cuts while they spend 1.4 TRILLION more than they have. They pass these idiotic measures that guarantee every two months they have to revisit the issue. Oh, it is just no freakin shock THAT you support them. Its also not a mystery WHY you support them. Its just pathetic, sad, and yet, comical that you DO support them.

    Good lord...

No, that's YOU. YOU are the one ignoring the fact that short-term extensions are normal in Congress. You haven't complained when Republicans did it. Now suddenly you care.

I never said I supported them, did I? I didn't say short-term extensions were good, did I? My only point is you're a partisan hypocrite for complaining about this particular one.

You're so wrapped up in your own partisanship that you see it in everyone and everything else. Take a deep breath and relax before you read, and again before you post.

Do any of you who are bashing the Senate remember that the House did the exact same thing earlier this year by passing an short-term extension of an FAA reauthorization bill containing items it knew the Senate opposed, and then adjourned for August recess - causing the ****ing FAA to partially shut down?

    Guess not.

You are right, but it's how it is supposed to work.

You are welcome. Don't forget this Civics lesson.

I'm sorry...when have I NOT cared? When have I NOT expressed open disdain for republicans as well as democrats for their idiotic partisan games that have driven this country into a 15.5 trillion dollar hole and climbing?

And now you are saying the short term solution is BAD...but hey...didnt the senate do its JOB? FM...Mindless partisan FM.

No it's not. There is no single way it's supposed to work. As long as both houses pass identical legislation, it doesn't matter how. There is nothing about conference committees in the Constitution. Not all bills are conferenced.

I didn't say the short-term solution was bad either.

I said it is normal to do short-term extensions, and it is often a good thing. And to blame the Senate for doing it just because the House has now decided it doesn't want to is unfair.

The House could easily just pass the Senate's extension and then come back next year and pass a longer one.
