I believe the extension is funded by the federal government.

think your correct. What continues to be an issue is not offsetting the costs of the extenstion by raising revenue or cutting costs. In the end it is us that pays taxes that will have to pay for it.

It is a concern, of course, but IMO it's self defeating to stimulate the economy with a tax cut, on the one hand, and then destimulate the economy with spending cuts on the other. It should be paid for with spending cuts and revenue hikes in 2013 and beyond.

I can't remember a less effective Speaker of the House.
Indeed. The Tea Party caucus has certainly made him their bitch.

It is a horrible way to pay for it, but we may assume that is the only way the Senate Republicans would pass it (we know they certainly would not bill the rich for it, but seem to have no problem billing the middle class).

He would need 60 Senate Dems. There are not that many... you know that, right?

And the House wouldn't pass it even if he had 60 Senate Dems. You know that, right?

    Great Answer. I buy that.

When does unemployment become to long? 99 weeks seems like a long time, and that is already an extension.

I'm not even going to attempt to respond to this. You need to go back and read the posts again because you have it all bollixed up.

You don't consider a $17 monthly fee increase on every house sold or refinanced a "destimulate" on the economy ??

The downward spiral of the housing market is what started this mess, thanks to Barney and friends.
