Personally I think this is more nanny state runamuck. what will be next a ban on changing CD's or tunning the radio, or eating while driving, or putting on makeup while driving.

So basically I don't need to harm anyone, just have to be doing something I shouldn't because it COULD harm someone? Lol, prevention tactics are always the best. Liberty, it can be dangerous. Lets avoid it by controlling what people do! Brilliant!
Whats next? Banning me from singing along with the radio?! I, sometimes, use the cell phone while driving to keep me awake. I really shouldn't be driving when I am that tired but I often have to. Which is better, me on the phone paying attention to the road and the phone or falling asleep? Hands free is literally the same as talking to someone else in the car or listening to the radio or even just thinking about what all you have to do in the day. No one is ever just thinking about the road when they drive.
I think banning texting is going to lead to more trouble of targeting people using GPS and other things while stopped at a red light because a cop is typically not going to see you while you are driving texting because he should be watching the road too! I am very against people texting while driving but I do not think a ban is going to have any affect. This is ridiculous! Why does the government continue to create laws like these. Seat belts? Who does that hurt but yourself if you crash?! Ridiculous. I understand that texting while driving can hurt others but I think education would be better than a law.
