I know one thing for sure--if the teacher who died trying to save students at the last VT massacre had been armed, far less people would have died
That's a guess. I really don't think we need this debate again, but you assume something not proven. There is no certainty the professor could adequately use a gun, remember, I knwo some of these folks. or that he would be capable of doing anything. Too many assumptions have to be made that not everyone will accept.

Well, they had said some one surrendered, but I guess he was just getting the **** out of the way.

Didn't say I did. Just noting that the same old lame response doesn't work here.

Well, no, you don't know that either. That was my whole point - the cop was armed but that didn't help!

Well said. I'm starting to get tired of people saying, "Well we know for sure that if X had a gun, less people would have died." No, you don't know. Every situation is different. Plenty of people with guns who know how to use them have died in altercations. Why can't people just be reasonable and say, "A gun may have hurt the situation, helped it or made no difference at all"? No one knows.

I live about 35 miles from VA Tech. We are getting no further news here locally than what is on the national news.

Still waiting on the details. It does sound like they had much better procedures in place to lock down the students for safety and in their notification to the students to keep them informed.

The cop was given a false sense of security, because he thought he was in a, "gun free", zone.

Those damn gun free zones are dangerous. Huh?

actually I do know. the professor was holding the door as the killer tried to force his way in

an easy shot-something I could teach just about anyone on this board to make in less than 20 minutes of instruction.

I don't think anyone needs 20 minutes of instruction to complete that shot....

Thus my obligatory condemnation of White supremacy will now be in every post, lest I be accused of supporting it because I didn't mention it specifically every time I post.
