I agree, but I think he may be a tad hypocritical when he wants to elevate the issue of gay rights (which is a valid issue) while ignoring the intense religious persecution many people face globally.

Actually he has raised such issues, even if it's just lip service, Hillary has been roundly outspoken about human rights abuses in China.
Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

Well then I was in the wrong. Thank you for sharing this.

LGBT persecution globally is wrong and I think it's good that we speak out against it. However, as a nation there isn't much we can do about it without getting involved militarily in nations that abuse human rights.

We have no right to tell any other country how they should act. We need to take care of and handle our own affairs and get them right. Being the Policeman of the world is breaking our bank and making us look foolish. People all over the world laugh at us because we are a nation of fat fools (and I mean fat) who think we can buy our way out of everything. We live in a giant glass house and we ought to put down the stones now.

    Un-****ing-believable.

Can't really get massively bothered about this. Would I rather we butt out of the business of other countries by and large? Sure. But that's unrealistic at this point and if we're going to be doing this kind of stuff I think attempting to suggest people should ****ing kill people for being gay is a pretty reasonable thing to promot.
It's good thing I didn't say that we did stone LGBT people. However, LGBT people are still treated like second class citizens in our country. They can't get married and in many places and they can't adopt children. Until recently, they couldn't serve openly in the military.

So yeah, it's un****ing-believable that you think "not stoning" gay people is good enough. It's not and in my opinion, the way that we treat LGBT citizens is not enough to give us permission to act like we should be the champions of gays rights throughout the world.

They shouldn't get married, they shouldn't adopt children but let them serve. They can be on the front line.

Patience...wait for it. As the election approaches, if there is still significant discontent amongst the base he will address it for political gain, as he has been doing with all the special interest categories. Probably before amnesty and voting rights for illegal immigrants. Again...depends on just how much he has to gain by doing it.
