A fashion model and magazine editor was recovering in a hospital Tuesday after severing her hand and suffering severe facial injuries when she walked into a spinning airplane propeller in north Texas.
Witnesses said that Lauren Scruggs, 23, had just stepped off the plane at a private airport in McKinney, Texas, on Saturday night when she apparently walked in front of the propeller. She was taken by helicopter to the hospital, where she underwent several surgeries over the weekend.

Not to be cruel, but damn, talk about a blonde moment.

Here's hoping she makes a successful recovery and is able to maintain her zest and zeal for life and realizes most folks that walk into a prop don't live.

In other news, the model, Lauren Scruggs, has been made an honorary member of the Rotary Club.

Oh geez...wheres the compassion...you are brutal dan...lol

Wow - aren't there suppose to be security personnel to PREVENT these types of horrific accidents? Good God.

Surgeons had to amputate Scruggs' left hand, and the accident caused severe damage to her shoulder and head, the New York Post reported.

Family members, who have been posting updates on her condition on the CaringBridge website, said Scruggs' operations went well and that she was learning the extent of her injuries. Scruggs also began speaking, they said, saying her name and telling family members she loved them.

"To the doctors and her family's delight, Lauren said a few words this afternoon," they wrote Monday evening. "We pray that her brain will continue to heal and have full restoration!"

They added, "She is able to open her right eye to see, while her left eye is still bandaged. Please continue to pray for the vision of her left eye, as we will not know the status of her sight for some time."

They'll swab your asshole but still let people kill theirselves on the runway - Christalmighty

I do have compassion, and I hope she recovers. I also have a very sick sense of humor. LOL.

Lucky girl, she should be dead. I'd buy a lottery ticket if I was her.

that's awful. prayers for her recovery.

Most people understand: "Spinning prop, DON'T ****ING WALKING INTO IT, IT'LL **** YOUR **** UP"

For those that don't, we have modern medicine and funeral homes.

Neh - I've been on plenty of runways. When they're spinning they're extremely hard to see - add the dark or rain and distraction - it actually happens all the time. To trained personnel, even.

Oh man. That's awful. And hilarious.

It is just a reminder that despite the best of plans a person's life can change forever in an instant.

I suspect the reason people joke of this is the psychological nightmares she will go thru no matter how it goes are harsher than any of us can really deal with thinking about.

Ever worked on a flight deck, I have. Worst fear was seeing someone get turned to paste from a prop (we all figured if it happened to us we probably wouldn't' notice). The jokes aren't because we're mocking this lady, but as a way of dealing with a horrific incident.

And yes AS, I understand even train folks screw up.

As part of my duties, I was Safety Petty Officer for Ops Dept. They had us watch some really fun videos of what happens when things go bad. Video's that amazingly haven't made it to the web. All I can say is, DAMN how'd she survive??

yeah - incredible that she survived. . . absolutely astonishing.

I'm not offended by the jokes, though - others might be - I'm just shocked as hell that it was able to happen to a civilian (you know: maintenance and stoop crews are expected as how it's a danger of their work environment)

The residents of College Station, in Texas, have been complaining that their airport is the smallest in the world. Aggies believe that the runways there are extremely short............

And extremely wide.

For some, yes. For others, however, I suspect schadenfreude.

It makes me shiver to think about it. Talk about nightmare.

It reminds me of an episode of 1000 Ways To Die. Some guy was throwing limbs in a wood chipper and one of the pieces wouldn't go down so of course he climbs up on it and tries to jamb it down in there with his foot. You know the rest.

He ends up chipping on his wife?

This incident truly is a disaster (“dis-assed her”).

It is an easier mistake to make than you might think. You don't really see the prop, and if you are in front or directly beside it, you don't feel the heavy wind associated with it. The noise is loud enough that you cannot really pinpoint it by sound either. It is something that happens. Yes, it is careless, but it's not as all out stupid as you might think.

... I wish you guys would cut it out and stop making fun of this poor girl
