And yes AS, I understand even train folks screw up.

As part of my duties, I was Safety Petty Officer for Ops Dept. They had us watch some really fun videos of what happens when things go bad. Video's that amazingly haven't made it to the web. All I can say is, DAMN how'd she survive??
I worked with Demo as a young PFC and LCpl. Among our training video's was one where a dude decided to crimp a blasting cap by biting it.

It has happened before, but there is nothing to compare it to now.

well, it's one way to cut long-term costs in an era of tightening budgets... It was the facial equivalent of the guy who decided to knock in a retaining pin using the back of a .50 cal round.

See, that is some one doing something actually stupid. Being around aircraft, you just have to have a moments inattention.

Did they still have the mishap video set to REM's End of the World as we Know it? I would love to get a copy of that, though I would have to dub better music over it. Safety stand down day was a lot of fun for horrible mishap videos.

Re: Texas Model Has 'Long Road to Recovery' After Walking Into Plane Propeller

I don't understand why they were letting people/passengers on or off the plane while the props were still spinning. You would think that they would shut all the way down if they were going to be close enough for this to be an issue.

We saw pics of the chief's head, brain, and cranial (gruesome) who got hit by a spinning helicopter rotor. (Different ship, but happened while I was on my ship) He didn't duck down far enough, and the rotor dipped. It was horrible but they were trying to impress flight deck safety. (Not that I ever went up to the flight deck during flight ops, with the only exception being when I got flown off the ship. We couldn't even see the plane on the deck til we got right up to it, it was so foggy with a little rain.)

The other pics that were getting sent around was definitely due to stupidity and had nothing to do with aircraft (although it did involve rotating equipment). This guy had an itch in his nose and used a power drill to scratch it, turned on. He also lost a good portion of his nose.

I've seen one like that, the one I got to watch was... no music, just "Here's the situation, here's what happened, oh and here's the aftermath"

    /shudder
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.
