Re: Iran says arrests 12 CIA agents amid reports of compromised U.S. ring

I think this is the real deal, because D.C. has totally clammed up and frowny faces are grim. A lack of decent vetting of CIA assets, it appears, because each spy group had been infiltrated by double agents, allowing both Tehran and Hezbollah to monitor and discover who the spies were and how to locate them in order to coordinate a sweep that netted them all at the same time.

This really is grim news. Those people will never been seen alive again.

Edited to add my dismay that posters are either shrugging this off, or trying to put a partisian spin on it. **** happens, dammit, and if these news articles are correct, people will probably be tortured until they are of no use, then killed. That's a damned site more important than partisian protection and finger-wagging.

we can see that the fundies in control of iran's government have little public support, in a way not unlike when the fundies in control of the USA government had little public support
the difference is, we were able to hold elections to rid ourselves of our own religious zealots who were in power
So you feel qualified to speak for the Iranian people? In fact there was far more progress under the Shah than there has been ever since his overthrow, he was an ally pf the West, and of course we are now looking at Iran possibly having nuclear weapons.

You feel that American Christians are comparable with the Islamic Iranian fundamentalists?? That's quite remarkable.

RE OP: Good heavens - an entire ring brought down? I think the word 'lazy' doesn't go far enough.

Unfortunate: but it's not like being a spy is advertised as a safe job or something.
