    It was sarcasm, El-Tee.

That being said, I doubt you can blame Obama for this its not something the President personally manages, heck there may be nobody to blame at all. Maybe their handlers at the CIA and planners did the most rationale and smart move for the information they had, but it didn't work out because they were missing some information. Who knows, lets not jump to conclusions.
If someone in your platoon gets killed in a training accident, is the battalion commander free from any and all responsibility? Or, is he held just as accountable, because it happened under his command? Have you been in the service long enough to see a BC get relieved, on the spot, because of something that happened at platoon level?

i hear it as them saying that we inflicted the shah and savak on them and they are not going to allow that to happen again
from the iranian perspective, that would be wise

and while Obama was not directing this himself, his appointee, leon panetta, may have facilitated this screw up. shortly after this was exposed, leon was promoted out of trouble

I would have to say that the last US spies were allegedly hikers.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

It depends entirely upon what exactly happened and a lot of small details to determine if the BC was negligent or lacking in any way. For example if the S3 put together an inherently and unnecessarily dangerous training program and the BC signed off on it, then as PLT leader I executed it exactly to standard the BC and S3 may be found responsible. Or perhaps the investigating officer will find that the dangerous was clear enough and able to be avoided and therefore I should have made a different decision as the lowest level leadership. Or perhaps he'll say even my level of training and experience I could not be expected to notice the inherent danger. It all depends on exactly what happened and a lot of little details.

When I was a cadet there was a suicide in our company, a particularity public and gruesome one, one of the cadets had hung himself on the land-nav course with his LBV and some 550-cord. Now there was an investigation and in the end no one was found negligent in their duties, because they had followed their suicide prevention training to a tee, briefed the Soldiers frequently about it, had a chaplain on scene during this training, issued all Soldiers the ACE cards, etc etc and some sure some other things I didn't even know were going on.

then you should tell your boy Obama, because he continues the renditions.

Until this can be confirmed in more meaningful detail, I take it with a grain of salt. I do believe though that the U.S. and Israel are trying hard to concoct a pretext for war with Iran and we will see the results of that in the coming years.

    From the Iranian perspective?

Does that include the Iranian people or is it just the opinion of the religious crazies who now run the country?

Yes, it's not wise to trust the Americans under the present administration. It's been clear for quite some time that Barrack Obama wants to nuke Iran.

when we observe that the uprising against the USA installed and supported shah of iran and his hated savak was widespread, it is no reach to conclude that it is the iranian people who opposed that repressive dictator
unfortunately, when an enemy of my enemy is my friend, the fundies or iran assumed power in the vacuum of the shah's overthrow
we can see that the fundies in control of iran's government have little public support, in a way not unlike when the fundies in control of the USA government had little public support
the difference is, we were able to hold elections to rid ourselves of our own religious zealots who were in power
