WASHINGTON – The Secret Service has found a bullet that smashed a glass window at the White House before being stopped by special anti-ballistic glass shielding the building's interior, WRC-TV reported late Tuesday night. It was discovered Tuesday morning, said a Secret Service official who added a second bullet was found outside the building.
The Secret Service has been investigating a shooting that occurred near the White House on Friday, but sources told the station they could not yet confirm that the newly discovered bullets are linked to that incident.
An AK-47-style rifle was recovered from an abandoned car Friday night after Secret Service officers heard shots being fired between two vehicles on Constitution Avenue, about half a mile from the White House, shortly after 9:00pm.
U.S. Park Police spokesman Sgt. David Schlosser said Sunday officers had obtained an arrest warrant for 21-year-old Oscar Ramiro Ortega, on a felony charge of carrying a dangerous weapon, in connection with the incident.

Gives new meaning to "Storm Windows"

One has to wonder if this was more than accidental....

Sounds like a stray round from a gang shootout.

I honestly don't care much about why. That is the job of the SS. I'm glad to hear the WH remains secure, however.

Sounds to me like somebody was shootin' at somebody...but doubt it was at the White House. (Just from what I'm reading here...)

Yeah, the article seems to link it to this Oretga kid.

Wow - so it would be possible for someone to stand on a street corner and pick him off like that . . . that's really disturbing. Having a firearm in the vicinity of the president's abode should not be that simple or unconcerned for. They didn't even know about it - what are we paying them to do? Jack off all night?

I can't sweep this under the rug - it just high-lights the egregious oversights that go on in this country: board an airplane you get your anus swabbed. Shoot up DC? No problem - no one's WATCHING out for ****.

Without becoming Gestapo-like there's no way the Secret Service can spot everything. That's the reason that the White House is up-armored the way it is.

Of all the places to be Gestapo DC is that place. It should, in fact, be the most secure area in this nation.

It's DC, home of the once appropriately named Washington Bullets.

Find the dude and hang him. This can not be tolerated.

Yes, but we're talking about the White House, not Southeast DC.

What can we say? As this economic BS drags on, more and more people will become pissed off. Government should probably do something about it to fix the problem.

Awaiting someone to blame this on the Tea Party/crazy Republicans/right-wing wackos... Nevermind the fact that the President wasn't even there...

....so it was a stupid Tea Party/crazy Republicans/right-wing wacko then.

anyone find it surprising how much information was deleted from domestic press releases which remains in foreign stories about this incident:
BBC News - Bullet 'hit White House window'
other than ONE story named a hispanic suspect, two cars were seen leaving the area, cops recovered an AK-47 from a parked car and the suspect has the word 'israel' tattooed on the back of his neck

SO you are connecting this shooting to the OWS movement?

No, it's just a statement of fact. If people can't recover and start feeling as though they can get going again, more and more will become pissed off. You can only hold back the flood waters for so long; eventually the levies will break. So they can either address the issues leading to the general disgruntled and increasingly angry feelings of the People, or they can continue to support the status quo and face the music when things explode.

I am not sure that the Washington Generals are up to that.

Two bullets found on Tuesday, after gunfire was heard between the WH and the Washington Monument the Friday before? They're not rushing things, are they?
