This is what happens when you wear out your welcome. This is what the protesters have done. Nowhere in the first amendment does it say you can Bogart public space and keep it from others, nor does it say you can camp out in city parks or create crime cesspools or keep city workers from cleaning up these public spaces.

It does say you have the right to peacefully assemble.. Which they are doing....

I agree. I wonder what a comparable (socially acceptable!!!) term is for a man. Isn't one.

But sometimes, Nijato, you have to admit the shoe fits. ;)

For my dog, anyway... but she doesn't have any shoes.

Just out of curiosity, would the people condemning the OWS protests and applauding the actions of the police be saying the same thing if it were a Tea Party protest? I don't really take any sides in this issue at all. This is just a question that I'm honestly curious about. I don't see OWS accomplishing anything and I think that the original message has been skewed so much that a good portion of the people don't even know what they are protesting anymore. I also think that some of the police have been going overboard and that the people who are applauding them are doing so because they don't agree with the entire premise of OWS.

It doesn't say you can peacefully assemble where ever the hell you like, for however long you like or deny and or obstruct others who may want to peacefully assemble and protest something else at that area or even deny other citizens the right to use those parks and other grounds that the protesters are bogarting..

The republicans didn't camp out, didn't prevent city workers from cleaning an area, didn't try bogarting the areas they were protesting at for as long as they like, throw chairs into Starbucks, annoy the **** out of burger kind employees and customers, rape any one, have someone mysteriously die at their protest or any other idiotic thing the OWS did.

Bitch is an offensive, sexist term, and it has no place in public speech of any kind. Period.

Unless you area crybaby school girl then there is nothing wrong with saying the word bitch. Some women are bitches and some people just like to piss, bitch, and moan about stupid ****. Some bitches are not just any bitches but stupid bitches.Martha Stewart from what I understand is a huge bitch. Not only is Nancy Grace a bitch but she also looks like a bitch.

It doesnt say a lot of things Jamesrage. It states you have the right to peacefully assemble. Which they are doing. Your pulling strings right now.

So i can peacefully assemble in your house for as long as I like? Or better yet peacefully assemble on the sidewalk surrounding your house for as long as like thus denying you any use of this sidewalk, access to your house and ability for you to park your car in your driveway?

It's sexist- no two ways about it. If you don't mind being sexist and offensive, I guess that's up to you, but somebody needed to let you know, apparently.

Someone is protesting in someones house?

I think you make a mistake meant to use ♀ instead of ♂ in your user profile.

Peacefully assemble I don't think means take over an area to the exclusion of anyone else that may want to use that park. Nor do I think it covers hassling people in the normal course of business of their day, nor do I think it means that a group can infringe on the rights of others due to their assembly.

The OWS protesters are denying others the right to use the park.

Your definition of "peaceful" seems to be at odds with reality, when you have clashes with Police, and refusing to obey lawful orders of the police, it ceases to be peaceful.

But which comes first? Was it peaceful until police intervention, or was it violent requiring police intervention? I don't recall widespread violence until the police showed up trying to push the protesters out.

Not obeying is not equal to not being peaceful. It is possible to peacefully refuse. In all cases, use of force should be something we consider carefully, and not something we jump to right away.

Oh I disagree. If these protesters were told that they were to disperse, and they didn't that is a provocative act. An officer tells you to do something, you refuse and get your head cracked, and then arrested? Tough ****!

That's just plain shortsighted, and in multiple ways.

1) To think that there is never a time to stand up to the police
2) To think that the police cracking any nonviolent protester over the head is a good idea.

The first one is called being a *****, and the second one is called "thanks for the free money" lawsuit.

Provocative does not mean violent. Civil disobedience means to disobey. it does not mean that they started the violence. The police have the option on how to proceed. They don't have to use force.

MMMMM, appeal to authority. Good thing you weren't around when the founders where doing their thing.

I didn't say that, but your line is in that not having to pay back loans you took, and signed for is the line in the sand for you? Really?

2) To think that the police cracking any nonviolent protester over the head is a good idea.

So the rocks and bottles flying, the fires started, and the destruction of private property were the actions of these "nonviolent protesters"????

Talk to the hand dude.

Are rocks and bottles hurled at police in Oakland non violent? Where did they come from if protesters didn't throw them? Out of thin air?
