ACORN Officials Scramble, Firing Workers and Shredding Documents...

ACORN is a non-profit. Non-profits are prohibited from participating in partisan political activity. Their tax exemption isn't protected by the 1st Amendment.

It's lookin' like ACORN doesn't want to have to pay it's fair share in taxes. :lamo
ACORN does not exist!!

Reality is that Acorn was wound up a year ago, and hasn't existed since then. The lying liars are out in force today, the great conservative noise machine is shouting the same lie across several sites.

What is the reality, conservativeguy?
\

Well you see the reality is that there was a vast 50 year conspiracy to install a Kenyan Marxist as dictator of the United States. So after they smuggled the baby into the United States, they got the State of Hawaii to play along, make up a birth certificate and plant notices in the newspaper. Then they called up the Liberals in Hollywood and explained to them how they all needed to get on board, and any help they could give them with their buddies in the media would be much appreciated. So Carl Reiner called up his buddy Ted Turner and convinced him to start a news network on this thing called "cable TV" that would be invented in about 10-20 years.

Then to make it look copacetic, they allowed Nixon, Reagan and the Bushes to get elected, because there's no need to use your vast power to control elections to help Dukakis or Al Gore. After GW, the word went out that it was time to put "Operation Kenya" in motion. This is when ACORN got involved.

Have I lost you yet?

The name doesn't exist anymore, true. The organization, however, does still exist under it's new name New York Communities for Change.

I love it, not even Glenn Beck could make up a story like that one.

Why We're Joining #OccupyWallStreet
Submitted by Jon Kest on 30 September 2011 - 3:26pm

It has been amazing watching #OccupyWallStreet grow over the past two weeks. As someone who has been involved in the social justice movement in New York for more than 30 years, it's a rare occasion that I get to watch a movement like this develop from the outside.

Over the past several years, while the big banks have destroyed our economy and working people have fought to make do with less and less, the richest one percent of Americans continue to take of more of the pie.

That's why I'm excited to announce that New York Communities for Change and many of our allies in community organizing and labor will be showing our support for #OccupyWallStreet next week.

No place is more symbolic of that gross inequity than Wall Street and there is no better symbol for what all of us are working to achieve than seeing Zuccotti Park full of people who are ready to say that the American people are not going to take it anymore.

The levels of inequity in this county, and in New York especially are out of hand-- and no one knows that more than the working families that make up the members of New York Communities for Change.......

Stay tuned, more criminal activity to come. :lamo
Is that all you have?

I think we're all missing the point. These homeless people finally pulled themselves up and found a paying job rather than look for a handout.

Okay.

Again, they are joining the protests, not organizing it. BFD

So, you hate poor/low income people.

I think you're very confused as to what you're actually "angry" about here, pb. You don't think clearly when you're discussing topics like these, especially when your ultimate enemy, Fox News (seriously? That's so 2006...) is part of the discussion.

I think you have a bunch of right wingers who love very rich people and hate poor people.

Yes, I despise my parents and 85% of my students. *eyeroll*

I'm not confused at all, I don't have Glenn Beck to cloud things like others do.

So they organized their group to attend the Oct. 5th rally.

Lots of groups did.

Participation in this kind of movement is in their charter.

What I haven't been able to determine is if they are paying people to fundraise and raise awareness, as is their reason to exist, or if they are just paying people to swell the ranks.

The latter would actually be inappropriate in my view, as it is the kind of dishonesty I don't approve of.

But they exist to address many of the same issues being voiced at OWS, so them being involved is neither unusual or innappropriate.

Lets all remember the completely contrived and deceptively edited videos upon which the fall of ACORN was based.

Well, whoever the source was that is feeding info to Fox News seems to know specific details. You seriously think they just fabricated the entire story?

Yes, they are low income. Why does their skin color matter?
It really doesn't matter, that was a trick question. What matters is why are you intent on smearing these poor people? Have you no dignity?
