    Fights erupt among Occupiers

Report: Fights erupt among Occupy Wall Street protesters

Fights are erupting among Occupy Wall Street protesters, so much so that one corner of Zuccotti Park has emerged where protesters say they won't go for fear of their safety, the New York Daily News is reporting.
Police officers also have been warned of "dangerous instruments" being concealed in cardboard tubing, the News says it has been told by unidentified police sources.
"There is a lot of infighting in the park," a police source told the news organization. "There is one part of the park where they won't even go at night."
Meantime, Ed Mullins, president of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, is warning protesters at Zuccotti Park in Manhattan that he will pursue civil suits against anyone who assaults a union member.
"New York's police officers are working around the clock as the already overburdened economy in New York is being drained by 'occupiers' who intentionally and maliciously instigate needless and violent confrontations with the police," the News reports Mullins said in a statement.
But protesters tell the News they have been the victims of police brutality, not the other way around.
"We have been brutalized and mass-arrested by the NYPD," said protester Jen Waller, 24, of Brooklyn. "They can threaten us all they want. We've got lawyers, too."

Wow, a bunch of people who are trying to live together in close quarters have differing ideas and disagree about them.

Also, I won't comment on whether or not the confrontations with the police are violent or not (I'm not there, so I don't really know), but I would certainly say that they are needful. The movement is about standing up to the fatcats, the politicians whom they've bribed, and the enforcement of policies enacted because of those bribes.

But yeah, this is not really noteworthy. Hundreds of people living in such close proximity and fights NOT breaking out would be much more unusual.

Agreed, Pasch. It's not surprising that fights are breaking out among the group.

So the socialist experiment in Zucatti park is breaking down into violence, and threats eh?.....This is a joke......

It's funny that people will believe a NY Post article more than their fellow activists.

You have no idea if this article is true or not, and in the least you don't know the severity. There are over 10,000 people at OWS right now. Are you saying that a few skirmishes means the movement is ineffective?

Please, get a clue. You're willfully giving into and supporting a propaganda machine whose soul purpose is to discredit this movement. You won't find one positive article in either the NY Times or NY Post about the OWS protests. They all blast it in some way or another.

Instead of letting mass media do the thinking for you, I suggest you walk down to your local Occupy movement and talk to, you know, real people about what's going on?

I wouldn't be able to stand living like that, either.

Breathing fecal matter for months on end will rot a brain. I am shocked about this new development I tell you, absolutely shocked.

It is pretty amazing over this amount time that many people could go to a local OWS protest.
