If it was because of increased production it would have been a good thing. Instead it was because of inflation.

Who's to say we are not? I've been hearing that 4th quarter numbers are far more important as any gauge than that of third quarter, especially when the numbers being released now will be revised at least two more times. I am sure that revision will not garner the headlines that this initial release to the press has, especially if the revision is negative.

We never slid out of a recession, it was the media and Obama filling your easily influenced mind with propoganda.
Try to slide back into reality and out of your Fox-induced state of delusion. IOW, pull your head out.

First of all, the economy has not been declining for five years. Your brain seems extra smokified today.

Second, anyone with a grasp of reality understands that there is no way to turn this ship around over night. Worst recession in three generations -- not going to go away in two or three years, no matter who is in the WH.

Third, Obama is doing about as well as anyone could, given the knee-jerk opposition he faces.
"The necessaries of life occasion the great expense of the poor. They find it difficult to get food, and the greater part of their little revenue is spent in getting it. The luxuries and vanities of life occasion the principal expense of the rich, and a magnificent house embellishes and sets off to the best advantage all the other luxuries and vanities which they possess. ... It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion."

It is possible, of course. But it looks a lot better than it did a few weeks ago. It would look better still if Congress passed Obama's jobs plan.

Ultimately, I believe you're right. The reports are good news. If in a few weeks the economist 'correct' these numbers, which I believe they will, I DON'T believe they will adjust them down to negative, positive is positive. Fourth quarter numbers will be even better with farm harvests and holiday sales. Employment numbers will continue to improve however slowly and even accelerate as more of the private debt is paid off.

When it is an actual Jobs plan without payoffs to unions and other friendly donors, and looks out for the bulk of the American people then I am sure you would see something different than the scam Obama is trying to pass off as something new...Hell, he can't even get away from using the same language as he did with the first stimulus that failed.

we have work to do yet, that much is true, but we are headed in the right direction. my expectations low? nope...i , unlike disgruntled conservatives/republicans, did not expect obama to be able to fix the mess he inherited in less than 30 days after taking office...i figured it would take himto about midway or slightly thereafter into his first term to get things moving in the right direction.

It is only moving in the right direction if you believe, and latch on to the first numbers put out there. We have seen over this term, the Obama administration releasing good numbers only to have them revised later to damn near nothing. Some would even begin to say that these numbers are a lie.
