There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

So now it wasn't all of the bad debt on the bank books (via the bad debt the home owners took out) that was the main problem?

And to think that you believe if someone disagrees with you on what the "main problem" was, that this means they are a "sycophant"? Can you just reasonably debate for a change? Maybe get into the holiday spirit a little early?

True, not only was is it our domestic issue, it's also the lingering issue abroad.

Bad debt on top of bad debt. We won't see any grand growth until we see that all that bad debt has been absorbed...and it's not even close. The market knows this, I thought it was common knowledge. And if we go as Japan did, it won't be happpening any time soon.

And unfortunately it appears to be 'conventional wisdom' of our illustrious leaders (and others on this board) that 'tinkering' with the ecomomy will help but ultimately will further delaying the recovery.

Everything is good for wall street...nothing good is coming back down....it only flows up and thats the problem

You simply do not recognize it when you see it.

I am in the Holiday Spirit.... Bastille Day.

Your expectation were really that low?

The economy isn't, nor has it, "turned around".
