Eh, I'd rather buy a bottle of woodford reserve, honestly...Jack an me were never palls. BUT, jack danials IS an american institution, and the ONLY one allowed to use Kentucky in the name of their product, so I hear.

i enjoy a jack occasionally. also dig a good scotch from time to time.

my most recent guilty pleasure is Canadian Club. it's affordable, but surprisingly decent.

a couple years ago, someone gave me a bottle of CC that they had found while cleaning out an old liquor cabinet. it's from 1978. while i realize that whiskey doesn't age in bottles, i'm still saving it for a special occasion. if it has been unopened for that long, i figure i need some sort of grandiose excuse for finally opening it.

Rogers says Moore County is “entitled” to more money because Jack Daniel’s used bucolic images of small-town life in Lynchburg to sell its product. And as Norman Rockwell made a living off of his iconic images of Americana, so too should Lynchburg, according to Rogers.

It's arguements like this that makes it tough sometimes to argue against businesses that send jobs overseas.

If it was in the sunlight, or near a heat source, it might actually have gone bad...

Otherwise, tip it before you drink it. The alcohol in the cheaper whiskeys can sometimes separate out, but remixes very easily.

That idea infuriates Jack Daniel’s management. The distillery is Moore County’s largest employer. It accounts for a third of its tax base. And already, nearly 60 percent of the price of a bottle of Jack Daniel’s is in some form of tax.
60% of a bottle of Old Number 7 goes to taxes? Shame on the parasites who think the distillery must give more. Jack Daniels put Lynchburg, TN on the map. In addition to what they add economically to the county, they provide free publicity for that little place.

Is this an example of what adding more taxes to the rich will be like? You the consumer get to pay the bill.

We don't drink like we use to - but I do cook with liquor and a bottle of Jack is always in the cabinet for this purpose. . .I've never SEEN any fluffy buttery iconic images of this town or anything about it - ever - in all my years of keep Jack stocked in my cupboard.

So where is this imagery even at? Is it anywhere?

And I don't buy it because of any sort of advertisement (which I don't ever see - I guess because I don't crack open a magazine where it would be found at or something) but I buy it for it's quality and flavor. And that's not because of the town - that's because of the Wisdom of Jack and his Lucky Number Seven.

It has happened before, but there is nothing to compare it to now.

i believe it was in a dark cabinet.

by "going bad," you mean the flavor will be horrible?

i have looked at it, and it doesn't appear to have precipitates.

Yeah, kinda like a skunked beer. Won't make you sick...er, no sicker than it would under ordinary conditions, anyway, LOL. Make yourself a canadian whiskey and tonic. Same as a gin and tonic, but with whiskey, instead. For an added touch, toss in a thick slice of cucumber. I know this sounds all kinds of weird, but it's good things.
