Are you saying that you will give Bush credit for bringing the troops home before 2012?

I will, especially if Faux News continues to bash Obama for it.

You're pushing for an indefinite Iraqi/Middle-Eastern occupation...sorry, bub...not gonna happen.

That's Iraqi's problem now. I see no reason why our troops should stay if they're no longer welcome. Bring our men and women in uniform home; let Iraq deal with it's own problems since they're become so adament about self-governance. After all, isn't that why we went there in the first place...to spread democracy? Seems to me that by leaving that's exactly what we'd be doing for Iraq...allowing them to shape their own form of democracy for themselves.

Those two groups are responsible for killing thousands of Americans in New York and Washington, DC, and we need to eradicate that threat to our security before we leave.
You bring up good points, but there are aspects to the war in Afghanistan I think most people still don't quite understand. Based on my readings, I'd say you're close to getting it. I would suggest you read the book, "Obama's Wars" by Bob Woodward to get the full jest of the AfPak/Taliban/Al Quada situation.

Clearly, you're not comprehending why our combat forces are leaving...has nothing to do with the President removing troops from one theater of operations to make preps for another neighboring combat zone. It has everything to do with protecting our troops from coming under legalism of another country. Think about it...

You guys keep talking about being so against Americans coming under Sharia Law yet you completely ignore the fact that the Iraqi government does not want to grant amnesty to any U.S. servicemen. Why should the Command in Chief retain military personnel in a country that will not allow our military to bring its own people to trail or be extradited to their home country?

    I swear...sometimes folks just don't think!!!

If the insurgents did that, they know we'd never leave. So, what would be the point in them taking such action? I could see them continuing with their suicide raids until we leave, but holting and then ramping things up as our departure dates draws near would be foolishness on their part. We'd only retaliate and be in Iraq longer; defeats their ultimate goal of having us leave.

But let's say that wasn't a factor. It is silly to say that foreign policy and domestic policy exist in a vacuum from each other. If our domestic well-being has suffered from the current recession that does not mean our foreign policy goes unaffected. After all, if we can pay for the basics of our domestic policies, such as education and transportation infrastructure, it is insane to suggest that we can continue to pay for a war like we did before the recession.
BINGO! You, sir, win the prize!

Finally, somebody gets what's really going on with pulling our troops out of Iraq. We will eventually withdraw from Afghanistan for similar reasons.

    Not entirely true...

Most foreign countries will turn over U.S. servicemen who violate laws on foreign soil if they can be assured that the servicemember will receive a conviction similar to their laws. For example, while I was on active duty several years ago my ship had a port visit in Okinawa, Japan. A sailor onboard one of the ships in my task force was accused of raping a Japanesse girl. It took days of negotiations, but the Japanesse government eventually released the Sailor to U.S. custody under the condition that he receive the maximum punishment.

The sailor received 5 years at Ft. Levinworth and a Dishonorable discharge.
