In a short speech delivered minutes ago, President Obama said our remaining forces in Iraq will be home for the coming holidays

As per the treaty signed by President... wait for it, wait for it.... BUSH!!

Yes sir folks, this is what W. was doing when he got that shoe thrown at him. Outlining our withdrawal TIMELINE. Jan. 31, 2011.

God Forbid Obama stick to it.

God Forbid FOX NEWS report it correctly.

God Forbid the far righties on DP have all the facts.

My only fear is how fast they are withdrawing. Logistically, it is a nightmare. If the troops are going to be home for the holidays, that is a lot of equipment to pull out of the region before Christmas. It took over a year just to get everything over there.

I am glad they are coming home. It was a long mission.

    Indeed...

Similarly, god forbid CNN acknowledge that Obama is following a timetable laid out by Bush.

God Forbid liberals give Bush acknowledgement in their congratulations of Obama in bringing troops home.

That knife cuts both ways. Its obnoxious. Good on Obama with getting our guys home and good on Bush for getting this time table set up. I'm glad Obama decided to stick with that time table, along with working with the generals, rather than attempting to rush it as it seemed he would possibly due based on his election season rhetoric.

But really, if you're going to get pissy about the Bush factor in this at least acknolwedge that both sides are pretty happy to black that fact out when it suits them.

    I agree 100%.

But do you have evidence that CNN has NEVER acknowledged that fact?

They are pretty milk toast and hardly in same category as MSNBC.

Why, in God's name, would ANYONE "congratulate" the man who CREATED this horrible mess that Obama had to clean up. Isn't that like "congratulating" your dog when you finally scrub that pee stain out of the carpet?

Jon Stewart Mocks GOP Over Blaming Obama For Bush’s Iraq Withdrawal Agreement

After airing clips of Graham and McCain criticizing the White House for “fumbling the ball inside the 10-yard line” and calling the withdrawal a “clear victory for Iran,” Stewart likened their criticism to the captain of the Exxon Valdez standing around Alaska going “You’re scrubbing the oil off those birds all wrong.”

AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.

Re: Official: U.S. pulling out all troops from Iraq

Even though we said we were getting out, it is important for our leaders to re-evaluate the decision to stay or go as new information and situations present themselves. It is great that Bush set a timetable. Current information is that Iraq will not protect our troops from their courts if they break an Iraqi law. Obama made the choice to honor our agreement to leave on the Bush timeline. Give Obama credit, he is getting the troops out. Bush gets credit too, but overall credit goes to Obama if the troops come home. Words vs. Action for me. The words were, "They are coming home." Obama's words are, "They will be home for Christmas." Let's see what the action is now.

Well of course not. YOu have evidence that Fox has NEVER suggested the time table is one Bush created?

I was just commenting on this particular story, which with a quick find function didn't turn up any mention of Bush in it.

    I agree
