Hispanic Activists Cry Foul Over Arizona Being Awarded 2015 Super Bow

Hispanics don't even like football.

They watch football. It that the "football" they watch involves people spending hours running back and fourth across a field like street urchins only to score a few points.

I'm actually rather pleased to see that the NFL wouldn't bend to the blackmail and pressure being applied to them by people who basically think immigration laws and national borders are fine for every country in the world... except this one.

Amen to that... Radical groups on the left have attempted to hold states hostage for decades. Good for Arizona and the NFL for not acceding to their rediculous demands...

Getting upset about sports venues is just plain stupid and usually hypocritical.

Much as I supported the sporting sanctions against my own country of South Africa during Apartheid I wish at least consistent.

Human rights abuses in North Korea, Sudan, Iran and so on and so forth are far worse then the SA apartheid government overall and yet they're allowed to participate in many more international events then we ever were.

And lets be clear again I think my country deserved it, I'm merely talking about consistency and if the fact that with all the human rights abuses in the world at this moment if people wanna get upset about a city in the United States of America getting a sporting event which should be free of politics then they need to seriously re-assess what their values are... punishing sports players, fans and cities for the actions of their state of federal officials does not make anything right.

And by the way this is in no way a repudiation or endorsement of Arizona's immigration laws.

"Hispanic" is derivative of hispānicus and Hispania. So the word Hispanic has not been in the language for four centuries.

Do you know how to read a dictionary? It clearly says that the origin was from 1575-1585... very clear... the Latin origin of the word dates back more than a thousand years...

Been reading the thread. I have deduced that people who say the word Hispanic was "invented" recently either don't know how to do a Google Book search or they think Nixon time traveled to 1940. In any case:

The United States news - Google Books

Hispanics in the United States: an ... - Google Books

Hispanics - Google Search

These are books written from 1900 to 1940 with the word "Hispanic" in them. I didn't even bother looking for earlier books simply because the premise that the word Hispanic was invented by an American politician reeks of stupidity.

Hispanic groups must be turning cartwheels over the entire NBA season being cancelled, which will kill professional basketball in Phoenix all year!

What a bunch of cry babies..."We can't illegally live in Arizona so they shouldn't be able to have a Superbowl!"

Yeah, that's exactly what they said....:roll::roll:

Your attempt to misconstrue their position is so pathetic, it's not even worthy of a strawman...

Actually, these groups want to put an economic hurt on legitimate commerce, since their own ilegitimacy is, at last being called into question.

Translation: "I don't like what you said but I have no idea how to counter it."

What, no Los Suns against El Heat???

Though, hasn't only the first two weeks been cancelled to this point?

They strongly oppose Arizona's anti-illegal immigration law and trying to cause businesses to boycott Arizona over it. So what ksu_aviator is pretty accurate.

Yeah, except you are incorrect and you cannot back up your wild assed assumption.
