Police, Protesters Clash at Occupy SD

Some times I am shocked and occasionally amazed but being shocked and amazed is as rare as Obama doing the thing.
San Diego is is my favorite City in the whole world but alas it's a Sanctuary City run by a bunch of Idiots.
Knowing that is why I am both shocked and amazed that they took this action.
Now if Bloomberg in NYC would grow a pair and remove the unwashed idiots in from the park in NYC that would be a great thing.
You have to pretty much a real scum bag to do what these "protesters" basically wallowing in filth.
I have to say the worst I have heard is there a people there who quit their jobs to "protest" there not being enough jobs.
My God are these fools that stupid? It seems that there was an offer to pay people to protest making the claims of grass roots movement.
I fear this is going to be blood bath before this is over, or at least it will take full riot riot gear by the Police who my have to use serious force to to remove these people. But then they all need a shower from what I hear.

Police, Protesters Clash at Occupy SD | NBC San Diego
Two demonstrators at the weeklong Occupy San Diego protest were arrested Friday at the San Diego Civic Center Plaza.
At about noon Friday, officers began moving protesters out of the Plaza as well and protesters resisted.

San Diego police officers held true to their warning and forcibly removed tents that had not been removed by the midnight deadline. At about 7:30 a.m. Friday, they arrested one man, said SDPD Chief William Lansdowne.

Officers had released a warning to Occupy SD organizers Thursday afternoon. After the midnight deadline, police extended the warning until 7 a.m. Friday. Any tents left on the property would be removed and those who resisted would be arrested.

Does anyone else see similarities between the protests today and those in the 1960s and 70s? The ways they are treated by police and some politicians is disgraceful.

Actually, being a San Diegan, I've been following this a bit.

The occupation in San Diego is actually in an area where dance recitals etc are held. An event is actually scheduled for Saturday.

    Two people were actually arrested.

They are not allowing people to sleep on site, but they did allow them to leave a tent up as a symbol and are allowing them to gather each day.

I'm not happy about it, but it does seem like they chose a less than ideal location to post up in. Other public spaces exist downtown that aren't actually performance spaces and the plaza for the civic theatre. I can understand maybe wanting to be visible to opera goers, but its a general event venue. We saw Blue Man Group there recently.

We are planning to go down and check it out. I'll post what I find out from the horses mouth, as it were.

I didn't read anything about filth, much less wallowing in it. I don't understand why this is so offensive. The right to peaceful assembly is guaranteed and civil disobedience (by refusing to disperse) is a tried and true method of protest. It's nothing new. Well, whatever.

This is the important stuff. We can’t get lost in discrimination. We can’t get lost in B.S. We can’t get lost tearing each other down. I want to make a point here that no matter what you look like, where you come from, how you worship, who you love, how you identify, and yeah, how you run, that if you have good public policy ideas, if you are well qualified for office, bring those ideas to the table, because this is your America, too. This is our commonwealth of Virginia, too.

I'm curious what councilman thinks that these protests are about. I've found that many conservatives are a tad misinformed by the media, and a lot of them don't bother to actually visit these movement's websites and learn for themselves.

The real question is, what do you think they are about?

Americans are so enamored of equality that they would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom.

I don't see a real clear message. It is entertaining however and similar to the hippies incoherent cultural non-message of the 60s and 70s.

Like Yogi Berra would have said, "It's Déjà vu all over again."

What isn't clear about stopping greed and social inequality today? And what wasn't clear about peace and love in the 60s and 70s?

I would really like to know how much are some of you reading into these protests? I've read countless articles and watched numerous videos, both from the news and amateur videos, and it's pretty clear to me what they are protesting.
