Of course if the light was crappy (I was normally shooting 400 speed B/W with Cannon lens and bodies) I might be forced to use a open aperture because the shutter speed was more important with fast moving athletes.
The question asked is actually a really tough one. An acceptable answer would have been " I need to check a depth of field gauge."

Yeah photographing sports shutter speed takes priority.

I mostly do portraits with a very shallow depth of field. I'm mostly old school and was trained to do as much as possible in the camera because doing it in the darkroom took a lot of time and airbrushing was not cheap.

Well I sure wasn't going to say 19.25 feet or something like that. All I recall was that the narrower the fstop the greater the depth of field since the cone is much narrower. that's why those cheap instamatics had great depth of field-really small fstops. and I never did much portrait stuff other than taking senior pictures for the school yearbook

Not bad now you just need to go out and sell it. And that is the hard part.

I just started getting back into it after doing it for years I hit a little bump in the road health wise.

Here is one of my fave images I did

I only compete with quality, not cost. I know what I have to make to make end's meat...

I use to work on 11 X 14 cameras. Pretty hefty cameras those were. Ya drop it you're fired.

Nice shot. Where did you meet Steve? I used to shoot 4 x 5 exclusively. Then I fell prey to digital, and have been digital ever since...though I still use really old lenses with my Nikon. Simply don't make them as good as they did in the 70s, I think. And I don't need auto focus, or TTL metering for stuff that isn't snap shots. I do miss that 4 x 5, some days.

You seem to like high contrast. I'm on the other end. I like real low key, low contrast. Unless it's portraits or commercial work. And yeah, selling it is the hard part. Or, more to the point....selling it for a good price, lol.
