Re: Shakira to advise White House

Why do we all assume this person is not "worthy" to provide advice to the president? We are all just jealous because we don't have that same chance. I know I would try to give him advise if given half the chance. So what's all of our problem with her doing it? What if she was just some bum off the street no one had ever heard of? Would it matter then? Or does it matter only because she is a famous pop music star? Or does it matter because she's not white? Hmmm?

It's not that they're jealous. It's that they just have so much hatred for the president that they will attack literally any action he takes. These, of course, are exactly the same sort of people who whined about Bush Derangement Syndrome.

You get your IQ primarily from your genetics - those with little education can still score high on certain IQ tests. I don't know if this is a good idea or a bad idea. I've been one to criticize Obama for hiring academics who are overly educated but real world stupid... maybe this is a good thing. Who knows.
“I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on what’s being proposed here, he’d agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute.” - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

This has zero to do with Obama. Of course you know I'd like to see him run out on a rail, but that doesn't mean I'm so blinded that I can't see a possibility and the up side. If Shakira is wonderfully successful, I simply attribute it to the broken clock of Obama. He's got to be right twice a day at least.

You're not the sort of person I'm talking about. I'm talking about the sort of person who immediately concluded this was somehow an insult, a sign of incompetence, etc, without even bothering to check and see how well Shakira might be qualified for this sort of work. They assumed she was just some celebrity appointed for popularity reasons.

Apparently you didn't either read or understand my previous post. I didn't immediately conclude anything and think it may be a GOOD IDEA. What I deem qualified and what you deem qualified are two very different things.... and I made NO such assumption. Welcome to FAIL-ville Deuce.

Re: Shakira to advise White House

This comes as no surprise at all. To have someone advise about educational issues for hispanics in the US is a good idea in general. Ofcourse the US would have someone like Shakira advise about this rather than some hispanic group who actually know what they are talking about and is passionate about it.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone stands ready to advise on the healthcare system as well. Amy Winehouse died, so ufortunately she cannot represent the medical and prescription industry. Mickey mouse is available to advise on popular culture and Britney Spears on high culture. Then add in the CEOs of American banks to advise on poverty, Roubini to speak about economy and people like Romney, Perry and Obama about politics.

Anyone seen "idiocracy"? (probably not, it was basically censored in the mainstream)
Europe is illegally occupied by the US
