I expected that this would happen or the Health Department would intercede, because I have seen a number of reporters say that not only did the camps smell to high heaven but the protesters smelled badly.

Without proper sanitary conditions and showers this was enviable.

I went to the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco twice in the summer of 1967 and it smelled awful as we passed through, my wife at the time was felling sick from it.

May be authorities will be able to break up this bunch who don't even have a clear message other than rage at the wrong group.

Owners Of Zuccotti Park Say Conditions Unsanitary From Wall Street Protests | Fox News
Owners of New York City's Zuccotti Park may be starting to get fed up with it being occupied.
Brookfield Office properties, the firm that owns the central location for the Occupy Wall Street protests, has released a statement claiming that they have not been able to properly maintain the park and that sanitation has become a growing concern.

"Basic rules intended to keep the park safe, open, clean, and welcoming to all visitors are clearly posted," the statement from Brookfield reads. "These rules includes bans on the erection of tents or other structures, as well as the placement of tarps, sleeping bags, or other coverings on the property.

"Unfortunately, many of the individuals currently occupying the grounds are ignoring these basic yet necessary requirements, which interferes with the use of the park by others."

Wrong place. Moved to Breaking News.

I was at the 9-12-09 and the 9-12-2010 Tea Party rallies in DC. Hundreds of thousands gathered for day long marches to protest BO and his policies. At the end of each event, I, along with hundreds of other folks, policed the park to clean up the little debris we found around the Capital. As the last marchers left the Mall, the grounds were spotless. Now compare that to the filth and garbage piling up around the stinky morons in NYC. The Tea Party movement embraces individual responsibility and accountability while the NYC twerps are preaching collectivism and entitlements......its no wonder the NYC fools are wallowing in their own crap, they are waiting for someone else to clean up their trash.

The squatters in NYC are literally proving "socialism stinks".

No matter how responsible or irresponsible people are, that many people living in primitive conditions without facilities set up for things like sewage is going to get stinky.

This has more to do with the environment the people are in than the people themselves.

Let's see how long they stay past Thanksgiving... my guess is the crowds will get much smaller unless NYC starts allowing them to setup a shanty town with small buildings in the park where they will bring in portable heat to live through the cold. If that happens, we'll start seeing some fires, accidents etc... and this will be shut down. Mayor Bloomberg is already starting to fray at the edges... this "movement" has about another 30 days maximum left in it before it is forced to move to warmer climates.

 The owners are letting them stay there, it's their problem to deal with.

Yes, but the point Councilman and the others are trying to make is that these people are unwashed hippies, bums, homeless people, and nutters who clearly don't care about themselves. They are the exact opposites of the pink, freshly scrubbed, privately pottied people of the American Dream. Republicans are clean. They all look like they work at Disneyland/World, perfect hair cuts for the gentlemen and ladies in dresses. Liberals are unkempt and earthy, dirty; they look like French people.

The inference:

"Do you want dirty people, French looking sumbitches, to get control of the nation? Or, would you prefer everyone to look like conservatives? God wants conservatives to run the country. God wants conservatives to control the world. Dirty, hippie, drug users who don't want to work, black people, homosexuals, Mexicans, braless tarts, most Europeans and Papists all smell like they sold their asses to the devil. Everyone knows that. Who does God want to prosper in America?"

I did read Bloomingidiotberg is starting to whine about the stink and the negative impact on tourism resulting from the Pee Party.

prior planning prevents piss poor performance.

when protesting bad aspects of human nature such as greed and profit motive, it's not a wise idea to forget about other aspects of human nature... like defecation, urination, and basic hygiene.

Are you really this disgusting and bigoted, or do you just play one on DP?

He's trying to be sarcastic in his interpretation of Councilman's inner and true feelings.

Risky was making fun of Councilman/being facetious. I don't think he actually believes any of those things.

I hope you are right... using the word Papist brings back thoughts of how Catholics were once treated in English-speaking countries...

I'm saying this as a fellow Catholic, get over it.

Do we have any actual evidence of this? Any photos of filth or interviews with people?

Or just a statement from a Wall St firm?

Hmmmm?

Seen a lot of anti-occupy stuff out there now, I'm sure y'all can find it.

They're working on cleaning up the area. They're ordering brooms and mops and other supplies to keep the place clean, tarps are actually among the top of their material requests at the moment.

It's not like everyone is just peeing and defecating all over the place, they are surrounded with restrooms. Also, I've been hearing reports about locals inviting people in to shower and whatnot. I'm sure many of you are praying to see this turn into an orgy of out of control hippies on LSD, but this isn't what's happening. Sorry.

That's exactly what he was referring to. With scorn for it.

Do you want to stand by that statement?

Sorry, looks like a homeless guy to me. And I don't see any ****. Maybe he's just rubbing his butt on it. Or maybe somebody paid him to pretend to **** on a police car.

The second picture looks like a pile of sleeping bags.

But I'll take it on advisement and see what else can be come up with.
