ATF Fast and Furious: New documents show Attorney General Eric Holder was briefed in July 2010 - CBS News Investigates - CBS News

Question.......should Holder resign or should he be charged with perjury? The man is a flat out lying POS yet he runs the DOJ. Can anyone imagine what the dem's would have done to Bush if he had done the same thing? They would have pushed for impeachment with Bush. Has any democrat ever spoken out about this insane policy?

Re: ATF Fast and Furious: New documents show Attorney General Eric Holder was briefed

You know what the point of the operation was, right? To try and make guns and gun owners look bad to further a gun control agenda. That's why we haven't seen many (if any) Dems condemn this ill conceived plan.

Holders got a problem now --- if he sticks by his testimony in front of Issa, then he's incompetent. If he backtracks on that testimony, he's a liar and covering up. Ultimately he serves at the Presidents behest and until the President sees him a a bigger liability than he currently is, nothing will change unless yet more information comes out that further implicated Holder.

Eric Holder needs to Terminated and placed in Prison....Bottom Line.

Even if so, I doubt anything would come of it. We wouldn't hold Holders accountable. In fact, I'm not sure we're going to hold anyone accountable on this one.

Re: ATF Fast and Furious: New documents show Attorney General Eric Holder was briefed

He most certainly should be charged with perjury.

Personally, I'm tired of the suggestion that every politician we disagree with should be in jail.

True, the President won't have Holder responsible or accountable... but it depends on how deep the rabbit hole goes. If this is the end, I'm sure nothing will come out of it.

He's done. Wouldn't be surprised to see his resignation within the month.

lying to Congress isnt a agree/disagree situation.......especially when the topic at hand resulted in the death of a US Border agent, heck even John Mitchell (Nixon's AG) pulled time for conspiracy, obstruction of justice and perjury for Watergate and nobody died

The lib's put Scooter Libby behind bars for misleading statements on a crime he didn't commit......Holder sat in front of Congress and simply lied under oath. He should get a perp walk right into a booking cell.

BS, Libby was briefed almost a dozen times about who Plame was BEFORE the Tim Russert conversation in which he insisted to the GJ he was surprised to learn who Plame was. Not to derail the thread or anything, it's just a pet peeve of mine when people don't understand the four counts Libby was convicted of and that they were in-fact 100% legitimate, and try to claim he was convicted for a crime he didn't commit.

Even when they commit a felony directly related to the function of their office?
If we cannot jail them under those circumstances, then when?

I'd have to agree. What I don't want is political witch hunts. But there does need to be proper oversight and people breaking the law and rules MUST be punished. Seriously, if it were any of us, do you think the government would hesitate to come after us? Hell no! What's good for the goose is good for the gander, and they can be brought up on charges when they break the law too. It's necessary.

I was talking about the "crime" that started the investigation....Libby didn't "out" Plame.

If Libby can serve time, Holder should as well.

Re: ATF Fast and Furious: New documents show Attorney General Eric Holder was briefed

Holder has been nothing but incompetant from the day he got the job. He's done nothing but make Obama look bad.

Honestly, I don't know what federal perjury statutes look like. Most state perjury laws require that the lie be about a material fact. Then you have to go on to prove that it was an actual lie, not a mistake or something. I'm not standing up for Holder, here. This was a horribly bad plan and really should probably end his career as AG, but just as I'm annoyed when folks claim Bush and Cheney belong in prison :)roll:) simply because these folks didn't like them, I'm also not willing to say Holder belongs in jail.

Kinds of makes you wonder if that is connected to this.

Of course its linked to that perspective. BO and Holder wanted to plant guns in Mexico as a means to attack our 2nd amendment rights. They hoped to show US sold guns were eventually used by drug cartel members. They didn't expect to be caught doing the "planting". Now they are in cover-up mode and Holder is simply too stupid to pull it off effectively.

There should be special counsel assigned to investigate, because I don't trust the likes of Darrell Issa, a slime-ball who deserves to be impeached on far more tenable grounds.

I can't find a video that shows the full context of the alleged perjury. So I can't judge whether or not Holder was honestly confused when he answered "a few weeks ago." It doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility, but things like lying happen all the time too, especially in Washington.

And P.S., Democrats probably could have impeached Bush on a number of grounds, and didn't.

I think this is a big deal, and Holder must go. On another note, other than attempting to disparage the 2nd, why would the President of the US authorize such a move? What was their reasoning behind this policy? If I'm the Mexican President, I have a big problem with this??

Tim-

I believe the stated (and complete bull****) reason was to use the guns at sort of bait, in order to find and track down the cartels. I know. It makes no sense, but that's the smoke screen.

I don't think it was specifically to attack our 2nd amendment rights (and I'm a big 2nd amendment defender btw) I think it was more like they wanted to throw the anti-Gun lobby a bone and saw this as an opportunity to do that. I would think the opportunity just presented itself and it wasn't planned that way. Saying it was planned would give wayyyyy too much credit to this Administration.

Re: ATF Fast and Furious: New documents show Attorney General Eric Holder was briefed

Crickets chirp in the silence by the left over this. Especially in light of the blown way out of proportion reaction to Bush's Attorney General Gonzales just for firing some attorneys, which work at the total discretion of the President anyway, but hey that was Bush right, not your anointed one.

I think that assuming the government incompetent is not really wise. Because no one in their right mind would think its a good idea giving drug gangs in another country who not subject to our laws or jurisdiction a **** load of weapons unless there was a ulterior motive.
