My thoughts about posting this thread have been proven. I thought this would be a very entertaining discussion and I have not been disappointed.

Here's a thought remove/destroy the rock or sandblast the writing off it. Simple solution, why hasn't it been done? He'll if I owned the land and didn't want to pay for it I'd pickaxe it off.

    Again, not that hard.

Yep, and when he was a democrat he should have done that....It must be that as a democrat he approved of it.

The Whigs didn't exist in 1964, which besides Carter is the last year Dems carried the south consistently. Southern Dems are no Republicans in disguise but they are normally pretty conservative. Also, it's pretty evident that Rick Perry is not a liberal.

Weird...identity politics is so enmeshed in your brain that Perry magically changed in all aspects as soon as he changed his voter registration.

As a democrat? What the hell are you babling about? Who cares if he was a democrat or a republican? He should have removed it period.

Old southern Dems were pretty racist - that's why they are mostly GOPs today. They got pushed out of the mainstream Dem party.

I'm not taking the rock as proof Pery is racist. However, if the writing on the rock was not painted over in 1983 as Perry has said and Perry does not retract the statement and give the correct information, then Perry is lying. I'm far more concerned about Perry's ability to be truthful because he has flip-flopped so many times in the past. In order to consider voting for him I would have to be convinced that what he says can be trusted.

If it's a deer lease then the Perrys don't own the land.

That's because, unlike Rick Perry and the right wing folks here who don't get it, you aren't a racist.
