    I was talking about SSI.
It's for people with disabilities, that haven't earned enough credits to qualify for disability.
Usually, that means people who have life long, inborn disabilities, that are uninsurable.

A great many of these people are on SSI, just for the Medicaid benefits because they have no other option.
Now I would totally support a UHC system for these people, but no one really cares about that stuff.

I would, but I'd rather outsource it to Canada.

A friend of mine has a kid that was born with an enzyme liver condition, IIRC.

His wife left him when his son was young and he had to draw an SSI check to get his son on Medicaid, because the kid was uninsurable.
He didn't want the check but he had to take it, to get Medicaid.
To get any kind of disability benefit, like Medicaid you have to draw a check and that also means that they comb over your finances, making sure you and any supporters don't earn over a certain amount a year.

Sounds like a good argument for working under the table.

Just don't tell the IRS I said that. I've been trying to get a job with them for like 2 years.

Basically, you have to cheat the system, in order to not have to live in the projects.
Some SS case workers will tell you this and others won't.
