"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"
Cicero Marcus Tullius
It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion.
"Wealth of Nations," Book V, Chapter II, Part II, Article I, pg.911
Wow a thread full of a bunch of crazy conservatives completely divorced from the topic they're discussing. Who woulda thunk it?
"I do not claim that every incident in the history of empire can be explained in directly economic terms. Economic interests are filtered through a political process, policies are implemented by a complex state apparatus, and the whole system generates its own momentum."
Michael Bloomberg is an irresponsible fool for giving people of questionable mentality these ideas, and equating it to the same causes of the revolts in the Middle East.
The protesters have swallowed the Obama attempts at divide and conquer, attack Wallstreet this week and we'll go after the rich later.
Never forget when the idiots go after the rich it includes Obama, Bloomberg, and there were 237 millionaires serving in Congress, according to 2008 figures.
So when these fools are out talking about making the rich pay their fair share hold a mirror up to them this and say you mean like this rich bastard that contributed as much to the problems as anyone else.
This whole thing could have been nipped in the beginning had any of Obama's Socialist, Marxist or Commie appointments and advisers had 10 minutes worth of experience in business and knew something anything about what makes the economy work.
I don't let President G.W. Bush off the hook he had a part in this but Obama has dome nothing right yet to end it or even slow it down in a meaningful way.
So far Obama still thinks he can spend money we don't have on programs that don't work, rinse and repeat.
American workers are getting paid less every day while they become more productive. The median household income has not increased for four decades. The uber rich have captured all the productivity gains while receiving multiple benefits from the government for creating economic chaos.
Why shouldn't the American worker be pissed off?
