Last Ford Crown Victoria rolls of the assembly line

the first car i ever drove :

View attachment 67115834

1978 Lincoln town car.

i was 10 years old when i drove this car on a country lane in 1984.

my dad was, of course, in position to take control of the vehicle should my maiden voyage prove unsuccessful. lol

That car has a horrible design for the "power" brakes.

Instead of vaccuum, it used the power steering fluid. If the engine turned off, you had no assist at all.

The first car I ever drove was a 1969 Fury 3

The first car I ever bought myself was a 1963 Fury Commando 361, and she is in my backyard right now 30 years later.

Known as the Ginnie gun boat.

lol

we called ours the Queen Mary. i remember sleeping on the back seat without bending my legs; it was huge.

the car had a 460 7.5 L engine in case you needed to tow a small house or something. EPA rated 10 to 12 MPG. actual mileage closer to 4 GPM.

great car.

I would imagine that within a decade or two, the police will be driving Mini Coopers.

Probably so and go back to the paddy wagons....where the beat cop would cuff and hold a guy till the van came and pick them up...

Paddy wagon? Oh my! That reminds me of the movie, A Shot in the Dark, and Elke in the back of a paddy wagon. Bring them back!

Can you put your arm on the window sill and put it straight up?

The windows look really small onthe HHR, which is what stopped me from buying it.

The windows are a little small, but it's not the end of the world, at least not for me.

Well half of the USA is obese they aint fittin in the back of a mincooper lol

Did you see the price of the new Golf GTI? I think it is around 40K.

40K for a Golf. Our local dealer has had one since March in red. Nobody will touch it and it is usually the first car sold off the lot.

They just priced themselves out of the market.

In Calgary a loaded one, red with the DSG and leather cost $36 000. More basic versions with the manual transmission and no leather were around the $30000-33000. The Mini Coopers are priced fairly similar if I am not mistaken especially the JCS versions

I didnt buy the GTI and instead went with a Nissan 370Z

My 2010 S was around 29k nicely equipped.

LOL, in downtown Calgary we cruised the circuit back when we could drive in downtown, those were some very fun and simpler days.

DSCF1050.jpgThis is my baby now, strong, practical, very fast from start to top end, 4X4 with extended cab. This is my toy and I am thinking about painting black.

You mean 3 rd Ave.

When my aunt and uncle came from out of town, my mother, sister, my self and them would take a tour, that was about 30 years ago

Yep about 1976-1978:) I did a lot of drag racing on 3rd and 4th ave. I remember a day when they parked a totaled and completely mangled car on the corner I can remember exactly where but the cops put a on sign on it, "who's next?".

Can't say I ever wanted a Crown Vic. If I ever decide to go with a rear wheel drive in a sedan trim, it'll be one of these.

I love me some CTS-V. *drool*

The first car I ever owned was a 1983 Thunderbird.

I still have mine garaged. Hope to have the money to restore it someday.
