AFP - The eurozone crisis could wreck the European Union, top EU officials warned on Wednesday as the leaders of Germany and France held talks with Greece to avoid a default and widespread chaos.
The pressure rose on all fronts with United States again expressing great concern, with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner saying European states "now recognise they are going to have to do more" to resolve to the crisis.
Highlighting the threat to the global economy, Geithner is to exceptionally attend talks between European Union finance ministers and central bankers in Poland on Friday.
So who still wants to be like Europe? Who wants to be like China, who thinks buying up Euros and such is a great idea?

You think this is good for Europe, it plainly says that the Chinese will benefit....and Europe only in the short term. Economic problems remain. Is that good for Europe? I guess your think so. I think most of what goes on these days everywhere is nothing but short terms ways of delaying the inevitable.

The US debt crisis could wreck the Union.... it is factually correct.. highly improbable but factually correct...Same goes for the EU... any crisis could wreck the EU... but considering the amount of invested political capital and the benefits of the EU, then it is highly improbable that it will break up.

We should not be cheering for the fall of the Euro. That would have negative ramifications for many around the world, including the United States. The notion that the Euro was an enemy of the U.S. dollar is the rhetoric of hypernationalists on both sides of the Atlantic. In reality, they compliment one another and the economies on BOTH sides of the Atlantic (as well as the Asia-Pacific region) all benefit from a stable Euro.

The question is how much will the two powers within the EU, Germany and France be willing to do. This is as much a political as economic question. It seems that there is little appetite for a Eurobond, which would probably quell the problem, Europe seems to have waited too long to address the fundamental problem that they had a united currency but did not hold governments to the agreement about deficits and debt. Greece is now in a position that the only real option is some sort of default. Once that happens how do you stop Portugal and Ireland not to go that route.

The EU over expanded and added countries that do not have the financial disciplines of a Germany.

perhaps the best answer is let Greece have some type of default with their penalty being getting kicked out of the EU and having to use their own currency.

As the world continues to shrink because bigger and faster Airplanes, and an ever expanding Web, along with Phone technology that makes it possible to speak to just about anyone anytime or time zone around the world, we are seeing everyday how dependant Nations are on each other economically

If the EU crumbles in a heap of debt brought on by their Socialist views of taxing and spending, we are not far behind if not out in front of them due Obama not being able learn that tax and spend just digs a deeper hole.

Why is that some people can't or won't learn from their mistakes.

When things take a turn for the worse economically it's time to cut taxes and and do what ever you can to promote a clear and positive out look for the future based on reality not more of the sams.

Th EU has become way to Socilist to survive. Just look how quickly the EU has come to the abyss.

Yes are there too, but it has taken 235 years.
