Obama Seeks to End Tax Breaks to Pay for Jobs Plan

I'll make a fantastic deal with conservatives. I pay around $800 a year in taxes. For a conservative paying more taxes, I'll trade my income with my lower tax burden with their higher income and higher tax burden since it is sooooo bad just so they won't have as much money leaving their pockets in taxes.Otherwise please do us all a favor and quit the phucking whining. You are coming off as babies. Thank you very much.

The tax breaks placed a huge burden on the US abilities to pay their debt, so I frankly agree with Obama's plan.
However, tax breaks aren't the only thing that is needed. As Wiseone said, tax breaks, and spending cuts should be needed. It's such a simple thing, the Dems compromising on spending and the Republicans compromising on taxes, but of course, politicians are still doing what they always do best. Mess up

He can't get anything right. There will be NO recovery as long as he's in office and Obamacare stands.

Why not just make yourself more marketable so that you can get a job that pays more so that you can ultimately (and happily) pay more in taxes? Instead, it seems that you just want to whine that others aren't paying enough.

I'm actually quite marketable thank you very much and I am happy doing what I'm doing.

I pay $800 when others I know don't pay anything. But see unlike some whiny bitchy conservatives I'm not complaining about it.

So are you taking me up on my offer or are you just whining?

If tax increases are asked for to go towards the debt, I would support it. If tax increases are asked for so the government can spend even more money, then no.

That is your choice right now. Make more money. Pay more in taxes. I say you should go for it.

It would depend perhaps a bit on situation. If all we had to deal with was a big debt but the economy is rolling, I could agree. But since things are broken and government can "fix" it (well in theory anyway, they seem to not be able to put theory into practice well these days), the government may have to pump a bit of cash into the system for the short term to cause recovery.

As you note, they are unable to do what they claim. They had their chance to show they could and they failed. I absolutely support the idea of no more taxes unless it all goes to debt and no more debt.

I'm not the one complaining about the taxes.Maybe conservatives that don't like to pay taxes should get lower paying jobs so they pay less taxes.

and they say there is no "class" envy. I would support higher taxes for the rich more, if I saw greater support for cutting wastefull spending. What I see from many is lets just increase the revenue. There is so much waste going on in WO. Yet you want to just give them more money because it is not coming out of your pocket.
WO needs to get the fiscal house in order

We are talking about ending tax cuts to pay for a jobs bill. Yes, I would support it.

Something has to be done. The GOP plan of cutting taxes DOES NOT work for creating jobs. All they want the tax cuts for is to pander to their base while they keep the wealth and move jobs overseas.

I'm not the one complaining about the taxes.

Yes you are. You are complaining that others aren't paying enough.

Maybe conservatives that don't like to pay taxes should get lower paying jobs so they pay less taxes.

With the alternative and better solution being, spending less.

Once the tax cuts end, yes.

Then any increase should happen to everyone.

O.K. fair enough. I think that is a rational position. Sorry.

I might dicker over the specifics but as a general position, it's valid IMO.

Let me ask, what happens to the jobs when the fed money runs out?
This is the same pitch we had for the orginal stimulas. the money ran out, states/county/local govt have started to lay off teachers, firefighters, le. Construction jobs when done, people were let go.

So you would support ending tax cuts for all income brackets or just the "rich".
Why is it that the dems are reluctent to reduce spending? Could it be they want to pander to their voting base? Bottom line, WO has a spending problem. I support spending at home first. But I also support living within our means. We as individals have to or should. So should the govt.

With your comment about the GOP, any Dem that is rich, makes contribution to the treasury to pay what they feel is fair and any ties to any business is an American company only. Right.? I believe your jab at the GOP is strickly partisan speak.

before anyone even considers higher taxes on the one group that pays more than its fair share, we need to cut away ALL wasteful government spending first

then making those who don't pay a reasonable amount of taxes pay some

Why can't Republicans in congress get it through their thick skulls that in an economic time like this you must cut spending AND increase your revenue to at least reduce a deficit? It's obvious most of them have never managed a business or taken an economics course. Cutting taxes alone simply doesn't work on a problem of this magnitude.

why cannot socialists and liberals get it through their thick skulls that we who already pay too much taxes don't trust the government and we want to see massive spending cuts before anyone talks about higher tax rates. and the first people to pay more taxes should be those who aren't paying enough now and that isn't the rich

There are massive spending cuts. If nothing is done by the end of the year there would be an automatic $2 trillion and some change cut in the deficit, which is roughly 1/7th of the whole deficit. And that's less than 6 months away, at that rate we won't have a deficit by the end of this decade. What other excuses can someone give to hang on to their tax breaks? Also, when does the Republican complaining ever end? Obama proposed tax credits to businesses who hire people and a cut to payroll taxes. What's so bad about that?

How about making those at the poverty level pay 15 % of their paltry $22050 in wages and make long-term capital gains pay at 25%, instead of the15% it is now? That should shoot some much-needed revenue into the treasury.:2wave:

how about more people stop demanding others pay for them and they start paying for themselves. Its not my fault some people are unproductive, unambitious or untalented.
