    Virgina health care challenge dismissed

It appears that the federal appeals court has ruled against the state of Virginia. It did, however, stop short of calling the mandate unconstitutional.

This one will end up in SCOTUS. I don't like mandates of any kind, but Obamacare has one, all states have mandates that you buy car insurance, and there are other mandates as well. Insurance companies also have very powerful lobbies in Washington. You think there is a connection here? I do, and I call it bribery.

The challenge was already upheld in another appeals, so this is going to SCOTUS no matter what. I'm still reading but, i wonder if that wasn't part of the reason for dismissal.

Nobody is mandated to buy car insurance. You can buy a car and drive it on private property for 50 years legally without insurance. The obamacare mandate doesn't give you that kind of wiggle room, if you are breathing, you are mandated.

It appears that the ruling doesn't even talk about the Obama mandate per se, it specifies Virginia as not having a right to sue. That's pretty much where this ruling starts and where it stops.

I think this is very interesting for a whole host of reasons.

I think you took your arguement a little to far here......... you aren't required to even buy the car in the first place. Many people in larger cities never do.

Looks like they waived an important Democrat voting block.

As a Virginian, I am proud of the Court's decision.

Further background on the legal status of the Affordable Health Care Act:

"This is the third federal appellate court to rule on cases challenging the insurance mandate provision of the bill. A Cincinnati based court upheld the health care reform law, while an Atalanta based appeals court struck down the provision last month."
