CARSON CITY, Nevada — The burst of bullets came suddenly in Nevada's capital.
Just before 9 a.m., the gunman stepped onto an IHOP parking lot from his blue minivan with a yellow "Support Our Troops" sticker on it. He opened fire, then continued into the restaurant and marched resolutely toward a table of uniformed National Guard members before shooting each one of them, and fatally wounding three of them, authorities said.
Eduardo Sencion would kill four people and wound seven others in all before shooting himself in the head in front of a bustling business complex in an unexplained display of violence Tuesday. One of the wounded, a woman and National Guard member, would later die at an area hospital.
The breakfast-time massacre sent tremors of fear through Carson City at a time when lawmakers were not in session. In the immediate confusion after the shooting, officials prepared for a citywide assault.

I was surprised to not find anything posted on this yet. My prayers go out to the families and loved ones of the victims. A very tragic situation, made even more frightening to me personally because I was in Carson City just before this happened.

Heart goes out to families though, my God can you imagine going to breakfast and this happens?

People are dead, including national guard members, and the first thing you can think to say that this is somehow related to Obama.
You should reflect on what kind of person that makes you.

"Family members told investigators that Sencion, 32, was mentally troubled, but he did not have a criminal history. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital hours after the mass shooting."
""He's a gentle, kind man who was very helpful to friends and family," Joe Laub told The Associated Press."

If this thread goes like the Tucson shooting threads, then we will have a bunch of posts stating the shooter is not responsible because he is sick, someone should have given him treatments, and guns are bad. We can now close this thread.

Bottom line the shooter made a decision to kill people. He may or may not have been mentally troubled. At least this shooter will no longer be a concern to the public.

This same thing happened over and over when Giffords was shot. Do you feel the same about those who did it then?

That was a politically motivated shooting... slightly different.

That was a little different, given that Giffords is/was a politician. Sorta suggests the possibility of a poltiical motive.

Somehow it's always different but as far as we really know, the Giffords shooter is just a nut case and not political and this case could be just as politically motivated.

No, you have the blinders on right now. Politicizing the events is wrong, but a random and inexplicable act of violence vs the attempted assasination of a politician are not comparable on 'political motivation' as far as we know from this story so far.

Its always horrific when a nutjob kills innocent people while they are involved in lifes mundane activities...unfortunately theres going to be another nut right around the corner..


My heart goes out to those killed and their loved ones..

Blinders on? I don't understand how someone can claim that it was a political shooting. It's an even further stretch of the imagination to call it an assassination attempt when the guy shot 18 other people.
