"No containment" of Texas wildfire - CBS News
Family and friends in CenTex are all waiting with baited breath for evacuation orders. The situation is so severe that most CenTex counties were banning the use of any grills over the Labor Day weekend. One horse rescue facility in Bastrop was taking in horses that had to be evacuated, only to find out last night that they are now in the evacuation zone. Based on the last update I received, they're now looking for transport for a minimum of 43 horses, as well as volunteer facilities to house them. A non-profit animal rescue in Austin drove out to Bastrop over the weekend and collected all of their shelter animals and are now pleading for foster home volunteers to help out with placement. And with over 500 families now without homes, this is shaping up to be a real nightmare for CenTex."We've been in a defensive mode for a couple of days now, and really all you can do is get people out of the way, protect homes where you can, and make sure our firefighters are safe," Boggus told anchor Erica Hill. "But today, the winds have died down so we can probably be much more aggressive, and we hopefully can get some containment on all these fires in the Austin area."
Thoughts and prayers go out to the families dealing with this situation.
