    Sadly, that's not true.

    Reasonable people generally don't.

"No one" taking them seriously would've meant that back during the Gabby Giffords things the media and many ost of the left wouldn't have exploded into the idiotic and ridiculous frenzy by doing the same thing as the story in the OP did, taking statements and treating them as if they're literal rather than looking at hte context, and claiming that the Tea Party and Republicans caused it because of "violent rhetoric".

To a point I can understand the OP's mindset...this is the exact kind of "rhetoric" that many on the left and the media had a cow with claiming it helped cause Gifford's shooting and the type of thing, if said by a Tea Party leader instead of a Union Leader, would've been added to the list of "violent rhetoric" by the "extemist group" of "teabaggers".

Its amazing how your comment is so widely usable however. Such as with this asinine and factually incorrect statement.

Not quite as toasty as it is in your euro liberal paradise...

but with more rhetoric like the Obama fundraiser...really...can it be far behind?

And shame on you for calling Loughner "one of your own". Regardless of his democrat party affiliation I really dont think you can totally blame the democrats for his killing spree.

yeah. Expect them to sort of take this with a shrug.

Jimmy Hoffa, of course, will naturally be held responsible by the media the next time some nutcase shoots at or otherwise assaults a Republican / Tea Party supporter. Right? Right?

oh, wait, no. not right. Because being a liberal means never being held responsible for your rhetoric.
Tpyical right wing distortion of facts, It's about time that a union leader stands up and energises the voters. Unions have always ansd will always represent the best interest of the poor and middle class

Why don't you post some pics of the slaughter that Anders Breivik left behind in Norway?

And that's the thing. There is no place for violent rhetoric in politics, whichever side it comes from. But as a rule our politically charged acts of violence are committed by right-wing extremists -- not liberals.

There is a war on the progressive reforms of the 20th century which helped build and benefit the middle class in America and it is evident in the legislate agenda in state after state pushed by fascistic groups like ALEC and the CLUB FOR GROWTH and their tea party & GOP sycophants and toadies.

President Hoffa is merely the messenger of the truth that many do not want known because it alerts others to their unholy strategy to destroy America as we know it.
And Haymarket swoops in to kind of highlight the OP's point. Remember these statements from Haymarket?

Extreme political rhetoric laced with violent images and languages....bad and horrible things that must be cleaned up according to Haymarket, if you're on the right. If you're on the left THEN you're allowed to look at context and deem such things okay.

There was no regular poster on the site more quick to accuse the right wing of causing or contribuing to the Giffords shooting, rationalizing away maps by Democrats that had targets on Republicans as being wholey different than Palin's with cross hairs which could not, in any context by his measure, be thought of as anything but a clarion call for someone to shoot the Congresswoman.

The OP's point highlights well the ridiculousness of hyper partisans who went to great lengths to ignore context and common sense on the part of the Right's responsability in the Giffords shooting and yet will never utter a peep save for saying why its okay when someone on their side does it. Unfortunately for the OP, it also highlights that those on the right are incredibly dishonest about this as well. Much like some on the left's lying claim that they were only "searching for answers" when it was very clear they just want to attack the right, those on the right making a big deal of this are doing so under the guise that they just want to "point out hypocrisy" when in reality they want to attack the left for using the words but can't come right out and do it.

Politicians and partisans say stupid, hacky **** that is meant to fire up the base. Its dumb, its dumb when all sides do it, but its standard and common place. Hyper partisans, on both sides, are going to be ridiculous when comparing their reactions to the two. The sad thing is, many such hyper partisans actually exist within the media.

Absolutely shocking to hear that kind of childish rhetoric coming from supposedly responsible adults; hard to believe. Unless you watch FOX News or listen to Rush Limbaugh; then it seems completely normal.

Don't forget the Gifford gun raffle thread.

Worse than that, it was about smearing Sarah Palin, the most scary person in the entire Universe for the left.
