My comments are describing the entire, unedited statement. His speech was an emotional appeal that had nothing in the way of substance, and as an appeal to the irrational side of his supporters, it is detrimental to civil political discourse.

What REALLY matters here is that Fox edited the video!
Unfortunately, as long as that kind of gamesmanship is being done to demonize one side while excusing the other for identical behaviors, intelligent and civil political discourse becomes even more unlikely.

Maybe these were the exact same words used by the folks that took out his old man? LOL

The above (rational, civil discourse) CAN happen, people just CHOOSE not to engage in civil discourse. It is all a choice. Right now, the far left CHOOSES to view the right as a bunch of jackbooted, evil, racist Nazi fascists that want to kill grandma and throw the poor out into the street to starve. And the far right CHOOSES to view the left as Commie sympathizers intent on shredding the constitution, raising taxes to 100%, and imposing mandatory gay marriage on everyone.

People are CHOOSING to view the other side as cartoon caricatures, so their ears perk up when they hear anything remotely incendiary, and they CHOOSE to take the rhetoric the wrong way so they can raise a big stink about it and say, "See? That PROVES that the other side is the enemy! They're violent and hateful!"

It's all very childish, and it's what is driving sensible people out of the two main parties, in my opinion.

I completely agree that it's a choice that both sides are making. It's enough to make someone in the middle like me want to get a fully loaded semi-automatic.....

    Just kidding.

So "YOU"think that his " Hoffa"energizing union members to get out and vote is appealing to thier irrational side and has no substance? Is that what you are trying to sell? I wonder why

Why not? Appealing to irrationality with no substance works just fine for the "fair and balanced" folks.

I'm saying that he is appealing to their irrational side in order to get them to get out and vote, instead of appealing to their rational side in order to get them to vote.

The way you said it was all screwed up because I'm not talking about him trying to get them to vote. I'm talking about the way that he is trying to get them to vote. Big difference.

BTW, what is the exact irrational conclusion that you have jumped to regarding my motivations that is implied by the "I wonder why" comment?
