Billionaire Warren Buffett plans to hold a Sept. 30 fundraiser in New York City to benefit President Barack Obama’s re-election bid, according to two Democratic officials not authorized to speak publicly about the event. The fundraiser, reported earlier by the New York Post, will also feature former Obama economic adviser Austan Goolsbee.
Obama, who is preparing for a post-Labor Day speech about his plans for stimulating the economy, spoke with Buffett Aug. 22 by phone from his vacation on Martha’s Vineyard as he works to gather ideas on how to boostjob creation and spur growth.

Buffett to Host Obama Fundraiser in New York - Bloomberg

I just love how bloomberg spins this. Especially when insiders close to Buffett, and Obama all seem to be leaking that the calls to the Vineyard were more likely about this....

Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc. announced Thursday that it would invest $5 billion in Bank of America Corp., giving a much-needed vote of confidence to the beleaguered bank. The news sent the bank’s stock soaring 9 percent.

I'd sure like to know how the "Crony Capitalism" charge leveled at repubs for this sort of shady crap is not leveled at Obama?

Unless libs are just total hypocrites, and lacking all credibility when it comes to holding their own accountable, at which point they should take a re accounting of their own positions....But further Obama isn't just selling out America when it comes to the nanny state, and our standing in the world, but he is a double crosser selling out those wild eyed idealists that thought it was their time.....

thoughts?

How does it feel to know that Buffett was teamed up with Obama to inject money into a bank that is connected to Obama donations, in order to make a quick, near miraculous profit in the millions that others wouldn't have been privy to on their best day? I think it stinks of insider trading, and corruption within the WH.

There should be hearings into what the President knew about this deal, and what he had to do with it.

Do you seriously think that Warren Buffett would invest $5 billion of his company's money for political reasons? Step away from the Koolaid.

Damned right he would....If there were profit in it? Sure. It is the illegality I am concerned with....

Buffet has obviously been bitten by a radioactive Soros spider, and converted to communism.

So you are (in a cowardly manner) claiming that Buffet is somehow sticking it to the American people and Obama is helping/allowing him.

nah, just another Obama insider that has access to favor while the rest of us grovel for the scraps.

Is this a deal that even some of the heads of trading firms would be privy to? I think not.

Whatever....

The truth of the matter is, you have bought up so much of the extreme right's cool aid in regards to Obama being "anti-business", you will then resort to making **** up as a means to rationalize this development. So when the greatest investor of our time is shown rubbing elbows with Obama, he MUST be doing something unethical and deceiving.

To say J-Mac has a chip on his shoulder about Obama would be the understatement of the century.

Almost anything he says about the man should be taken with a metric ton of salt...

I just don't understand why J-Mac hates the free market and private wealth so much, that he criticises a billionaire (which, as we all know billionaires are Americas greatest resource :coffeepap) for investing his money in a company.

"Connected to" Obama donations?

What, like someone who has a checking account with them wrote a check to the Obama campaign? What are you suggesting is illegal about what is going on? What evidence do you have?

The supreme court doesn't see a problem with that

I believe that if this were done by any two other actors other than Barry, and his bud, warren, the ftc may have something to say.

You can't even weave together a conspiracy theory that passes the belly laugh test.

Fundraisers are illegal now?

Guys chill out now its all known now that Warren Buffet is a socialist along with Obama....

What are you talking about? How does Warren Buffett investing his own money in Bank of America relate to campaign donations? Warren Buffett may be rich, but last I checked the FDIC and the US Treasury Department had a lot more cash to prop up failing banks than Buffett does.

in order to make a quick, near miraculous profit in the millions that others wouldn't have been privy to on their best day?

Two points here: Buffett is a long term investor. If you knew anything about his investing strategy, you'd see that he doesn't CARE about making "quick, near miraculous profits." That's not his style. Now that he made his investment in BoA, he'll keep his money there for years. Over the time scale on which Buffett invests, the one-day stock jump will be nearly irrelevant to Buffett's profit or loss.

And second of all, the fact that the market responded favorably indicates that it AGREED with Buffett's assessment that BoA isn't a lost cause now that it has Buffett's money behind it. So what exactly are you suggesting he did wrong?

I think it stinks of insider trading,

Do you even know what insider trading is?

and corruption within the WH.

Since your conspiracy theory is apparently too elaborate for us dummies to even grasp what you're accusing them of, perhaps you should just spell it out. What exactly do you think that Buffett and/or Obama did that was shady? Please give us the entire narrative rather than just vague statements like "insider trading and corruption."

Nonsense. I have been consistantly conservative in my posting for over five years now. My concerns about Obama should come as no surprise to anyone. The fact that you and boo seem to want to personally attack me for that, not only highlights the utter weakness of your defense of that failure of a president, but also shows a lack of personal character that one can only conclude is an illness among hard core liberals today. Seek help friend.

If we can't find a way to disagree, and debate about our different views, then I would ask just why the Hell are you here? One reason could very well be only to troll. Are you nothing but a troll boy?

Five long years of unrelenting whining about the evil libruls. Constancy is not the same as consistency, but either are only a good thing if you are correct in the first place.

More likely that the ultra wealthy love power and some, like Buffett-see a bigger government is a faster path to more power especially when the head of the government is beholden to Buffett.

Many of the uber wealthy prefer money be concentrated in few hands because that makes it more efficient for them.
