Are those the only two options?

I understand Calderon is frustrated because he is so obviously powerless to do anything except lash out at those he thinks are responsible. I haven't seen any information where he accepts any responsibility for being ineffective either. Maybe a leadership change in Mexico is necessary as well.

I also think the drug war in the US is unwinnable. Drastic times require drastic measures.
Yes, it is, and the fighting is about who gets to cash in on the lucrative drug trade. Many of the weapons used in the battles among the cartels come from the US. Our policies are fueling the violence in Mexico. That is not to say that the corrupt government of Mexico isn't partly to blame, of course, but before we start pointing fingers of corruption blame towards other nations, we need to look at what is going on in Washington DC.

Of course it's ridiculous but everything that goes on in the world is America's fault and Reuters is always keen to carry that message forward. Like the BBC, I wouldn't overestimate the intelligence of their readership.

Yes, of course. Over 50 people are murdered by Mexican gangsters in Mexican casino and its Washington's fault.

I hold Joe Biden responsible myself.

Where do you think those "Mexican gangsters" are getting their money and weapons? What is it you think they are fighting over?

Hint: It isn't Joe Biden. Not unless he's a pot head and/or coke head... come to think of it, some of his gaffes could be due to... no, that's just silly. couldn't be.

I think a story that pertains to drug cartels that exist because of our government and that own high-powered weapons because of our government is slightly political.

I'll take the one that has less of a chance of being drugged/murdered/kidnapped so that I can have more life to live.

How stupid it that. There is no way in hell I would cross the border for any reason.

I under stand that in 2010 over 34,000 people were killed by the drug cartels in Mexico.

They also love to kidnap Americans.

So do you think it's a good idea to go there?
I don't understand why they would randomly kill people like that. They sell drugs, why is a massacre necessary for their business?
