So, it's alright as long as you're okay? Twenty people are dead, but that's not a problem. Town are flooded, and almost two million people are without power. But that's fine, because your life wasn't inconvenienced at all. The only problems that actually exist are yours?

Well, maybe weathermen are liberal. They care about other people, which seems at odds with the conservative mentality that American displays, which is basically "ME ME ME!! It's all about me!"

That's an awfully weak argument against the claim that you're just posting for attention here.

Considering that weathermen are one of the biggest group of climate-change deniers in America, I'd be hard-pressed to call them all "liberal."

It was a piddly cat 1 storm. It was never going to be a massive and tragic event.

I blame Katrina on the news coverage...... and the fact that New Yorkers are so self centered that the brunt of the storm can smash the Carolina coast while everyone can't stop talking about "OMG WHAT ABOUT NEW YORK AND THE 50MPH WINDS ITS GONNA GET?"
"I condemn the ideology of White Supremacy and Nazism. They are thugs, criminals, and repugnant, and are against what I believe to be "The American Way" "
Thus my obligatory condemnation of White supremacy will now be in every post, lest I be accused of supporting it because I didn't mention it specifically every time I post.

Really?? Tell that to the families of the 26 people that have died so far. I'll bet they think it was a pretty tragic event.

I was thinking, you stupid jerk, Irene hit NC full force as a hurricane long before a 'tropical storm' hit NY.
Well, I would say, with weather, if they don't see it, it's not important. I recall the multi-state flooding the past few months only really got attention for two reasons: 1) Glenn Beck exaggerated us for his "Leave it to Beaver" Americanism 2) Because some guy from ND was in the movie Transformers and said something about it, turning it into a human interest story for a couple days of minor proportions. Apparently, the only time the media notices something is if a celebrity from a crappy movie says something, or, more importantly the Reporter can proudly proclaim that we should care, because for the day, he or she cares (of course, they will forget about it in a couple days, because they can't see past their noses). I also recall several weak snow storms in, you guessed it, New York, getting attention because, golly gosh, you can see the snow flakes, and golly gosh, sometimes it becomes hard to see. But be damned if anything else is going on in the world but the journalists' world, because they don't give a damn.

That sort of thing is going to happen when you build a city below sea level.....

Case in point... The Galveston Hurricane.

23 people were killed and that is what we know so far so shut the hell up about it being overblown and overhyped! People have died, people are without power, trapped and suffering bigtime. Show some damn respect for those that were hit and are suffering and esp those that suffered losses
