"The storm cannot master its own strength."
Uuuughhhh... I really don't need this crap...
Liberté. Égalité. Fraternité.
Now 220,000 without power.
My guess is at least a couple million without power by Mon.
After Wilma in '05 we lost power for three weeks. And it was HOT.
Eye has been over land for 6 hours. Hopefully will take some punch out of NE impact.
It may very well be 'only' a Tropical storm by the time it hits Philly, NY, etc.
Generally NYC doesn't lose power as it's suburbs because it has underground cables. TWC's Cantore (usually not good to see him a few miles from you), is saying he heard (Con ED) that that if there's a surge it could get salt water on underground power cables and then all bets are off for weeks as they would all have to be replaced.
Most probably tho it will be outages for millions in the NY/NJ/etc burbs. And of course Many more in CT, RI, MA and as far north as VT/NH/ME.
The NE has already had record rain for August before this. Flooding, from rain alone, is a significant threat
Interesting too... Boston and Cape Cod are out/East of the cone. Tho will still get impacted.
That/the track, is what's so unusual about this up-the-coast-/up-the-Hudson Storm.
Still in Manhattan with vast majority of others, but in from/off the river,

I'm personally sick of not being able to dunk a basketball because of racism.
As of right now, Weather.com is saying it is expected to stay category 1 right up all the way through the New England area, but who really knows at this point for sure.
Tornadoes in Virginia as a result of the hurricane. Lots and lots of rain and water rising. One newscaster was out along a street doing his report, commenting on the cars driving by and how bad an idea it was, you could just hear the "what ****ing idiots" undertone in his voice. Another newscaster standing ankle deep in the surf on NC beach, by time his 2 minute telecast was done, water was up to his knees.
Just found out, sister and brother in law supposed to fly into NYC Monday. I am betting they might not make it.
I'm still waiting for the devastation.
Does rolling up one's shirt sleeves (especially during a press conference) really make a politician look like he or she is on top of things?
Power restored in Wrightsville Beach, NC and the bars are open.
