Earthquake On US East Coast

Conservatives are taking to call this "Obamaquake."

maybe so. i mean, bush got blamed for katrina. i guess it's only right that obama be blamed for every natural disaster
that happens during his appointment.

Mmm ... are you sure it wasn't the *response* to Katrina that Bush got blamed for?

yeah. it was the response. i mean...the liberal thugs shooting at the choppers attempting to bring aid to the people
has to be overlooked. after all, according to the liberal agenda, they were black, so just unable to help themselves.
and the local "chocolate city" government had nothing to do with it either. can't blame it on the chocolate mayor, of course.
he may have had ancestors who were slaves. that frees him of all responsibility. and the fact that the federal government
gave the chocolate city 3 days warning in advance of the coming storm doesn't matter either. or the fact that the city had
been told years before the hurricane their levees weren't worth a $h!t doesn't matter either. it's all bush. it has to be.
why? cuz he's a dern white cowboy from texas, dammit. you knowhow dem dar white boys are always out to hold da
black man down.

There's a difference between Katrina and the response to Katrina. It's a rather unsubtle difference.

can't be FEMA's ineptitude, gotta be about da blacks.

Right, it's all the "chocolate" people's fault.

Never mind the fact that the levies are actually the responsibility of the Army Corps of Engineers, or that FEMA was ill prepared and mis-managed by a guy who Bush appointed. I mean hay, the guy had a ton of experience ... with thoroughbred horses.

I was thoroughly floored to learn that ACE didn't even begin to catalog the nation's levies until Katrina - and there's a huge number of levies that no one even knows about, they're just dirt piles formed by individuals over the years.

Happened a half hour after I landed in at the Richmond airport while driving to Norfolk. I didn't feel it in the car, but when I got to my appt, people were still standing outside the tower offices buildings.

Now I'm in the the 25th floor of my hotel, hoping for no aftershocks:(

There are times I wish we had a "reputation" system here so I could properly respond to this kind of drivel without getting infracted.

so in other words, you have no response which legitimately refutes what i said, but you could come up with a few insults? yeah. it sucks
to be as weak as you are....no?

A 5.8 quake is considered mild-moderate, but will give quite a jolt to those who are close to the epicenter. As explained on CNN, the reason it was so widely felt is the geology of the east coast, which is basically all on a single plate of solid rock, allowing the energy to flow further and more efficiently. In California, with all our fault lines to break the momentum, a 5.8 quake wouldn't be felt 100 miles away, let alone several hundred.

My problem was watching people back east doing all the wrong things, like running out into the street. Cripes, people get under a desk and stay inside unless you want to be lacerated by flying glass and pounded by debris. During a major quake, more people will die by running out of buildings than by staying put and riding it out in a protected place. They don't even know this in D.C., where they were evacuated buildings right and left. All those people milling around outside are sitting ducks if the quake turned out to have been a precursor to a larger one. Fortunately, there didn't appear to be serious damage, as I didn't even see any broken windows in the high-rises of D.C., although unreinforced masonry buildings, like the cathedral, will no doubt suffer more damage.

When I was a kid, we had a quake so severe that it slammed my entire bed across a carpeted room, with me in it! Now that's an earthquake!

In order to legitimately refute what you said, what you said would have had to be legitimate, which it was not.

There are lots of responses but we know our efforts would be wasted. No single city has the means to fund the type of preemptive measures to protect itself in New Orleans Case. The disaster was comparable or worse than Chernobyl financially and in human devastation. 3 days is hardly enough time, and New Orleans has a history of neglect by the government and repeat flooding. I really doubt the president's ineptitude has to do with him being white, but in neglecting New Orleans it fits the boot like every other white politician or technocrat that has abused and neglected the city.

well...your completely educated and informative rebuttal proves that then. i guess all anyone has to do here is claim something is wrong and
it magically becomes that. what a happy place. praise jesus.

I didn't say what you posted was wrong. I said it was drivel. Which it was.

ah. sorry. for some odd reason i thought the word "drivel" entailed meaningless, untruthful babble. generally; meaningless,
untruthful babble is considered "wrong" in one aspect or another. my bad. i never knew "drivel" could be so righteous.

Back again Lewstherin...

Once again spreading the love I see.

You had no point, it was more then wrong, it was non existent. It was nothing but a bunch of crap.

Which is the vast majority of your posts.

Or you were an adult and had me as a lover

What could he possibly use this Earthquake for?
like my initial response to this thread states........something more to blame the economy on. i mean....he's already
using george bush, europe, the jap nuclear meltdown, the arab spring, atm machines, blah-ditty-blah-blah-blah...
anything else he can throw in the mix...........you think won't tie this in?
