There was a new one in Virginia, magnitude 4.5. Did anyone feel it?

Didn't feel it here in DC. I haven't felt any of the aftershocks that have been reported.

I felt it. So far there have been five reported aftershocks, the 4.5 (if that's indeed the one that i felt) happened in the early morning last night (1 or 2AM).
Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

We're really having bad luck...now we're going to get soaked by Hurricane Irene (which will probably be a tropical storm by the time it gets to us). When is the last time Washington DC got either an earthquake or a tropical storm...let alone both in one week? God must really be pissed about the debt ceiling agreement.

the debt ceiling was more frustrating than either of these things. I can handle earthquakes and high winds and some rain. I can't stand people being morons.
