obstructionists to what? The Republican led House is the only chamber to have passed a budget. Republicans were the only party to have passed a debt-ceiling bill that would have avoided a downgrade - and they passed not one but two; and offered a third that was rejected. Republicans in the House have attempted to reform regulation, reduce the uncertainty currently staving off investment, and actually follow the basic responsibilities of Governance. Democrats have shut down all of these efforts. You know those trade agreements that Obama now says will create jobs instantly? He helped to kill it along with the rest of the Senatorial Democrats after it was negotiated under the last Republican administration.

There is a party in Congress currently refusing to do it's jobs. But it's not the one that begins with an "R".

Well, either way, I doubt anyone is jumpin' up-n-down over an extra 10 spot a week.

What are they doing to do? Go buy a house? A Car?

Please, tell me that isn't the best that the Leftists have to offer. It's insulting, if it is.

You are so funny, you just make up definitions to suit your argument! We are not currently even in a recession, much less another great depression.

Let's forget the rest of the meaningless hot rhetoric that was spewing forth herein (like telling us the "R's" have suddenly found religion and NOW want to follow the basic responsibilities of governance after eight years of drunken spending during which time they went from a substantially balanced budget to one the is running deficits greater than $1T annually....)...and please explain to me this vague insertion about "....reduce the uncertainty currently staving off investment........ nice string of words. Its too bad they communicate nothing. Now stop hiding behind rhetoric and explain what you mean here (if you can).

Would you walk up to Congress with a budget and waste all time and effort, tax payers money via the printing office knowing they were going to reject it?

the Great Depression wasn't a Recession either - rather consistent growth in GDP, as one poster here likes to trumpet. the Great Depression was called Great because of the length of high unemployment . and by that measure, yes, we are getting back there again.

if it was my job, then yes. waste money at the printing office? it is their JOB TO PRODUCE A BUDGET. if they are worried that their budget wouldn't pass, well, gosh, gee wiz, it almost seems like there are two houses of Congress that, like, you know, like, compromise and negotiate on things, and stuff, like, you know?

yeesh. of all the attempted excuses, the "well we maybe wouldn't succeed" is probably the least intelligent.

that is 100% correct. And that is why so many on the right are working so hard to try and establish the self fulfilling prophecy that Social Security is going to crash and burn. They will stand by and either do nothing to help save it or - even worse - grease the tracks so the roller coaster to hell moves even faster - and then stand back and say "see? I told ya so".

I really do not expect the Boomer generation to simply allow this to happen without one hell of a fight that will make the Viet Nam protests look like a sunday brunch with grandma.

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

Right, and we all know how incredibly willing and anxious the Republicans are to negotiate and compromise. Unbelievable.
