Fighting Erupts in Tripoli

Re: Libya: Gaddafi faces final battle as fighting erupts in Tripoli

The Fall of Tripoli
With NATO's help, the rebels close in on the Gadhafis.
Review & Outlook: The Fall of Tripoli - WSJ.com

Seems conflicting whether his sons were captured or will be offered asylum/exile.

See post #15.

Both sons were captured. Rebels say they will be treated well. However, one of the sons has been indicted by the ICC for crimes against humanity, and will be transferred to the Hague for trial, according to CNN.

The most censorship by the Lamestream media on any particular subject in some time. All the liberal talk hosts hope to ignore the subject and then hope for a quick Obama victory. Then, they will all in unison boast a victory for the Party and defend this horrendous illegal invasion, saying "See - the Preznit made the right decision."

It's like the GOP wasn't jumping his ass for not getting involved in the first place.

The hypocrisy involved in the constant political media barrage involves looking at every issue on its own seperate island. Then the brainwashers at MSNBC or whoever can talk about personalities - without regard for policy or how issues are interlocked - thus, the dying economy and the lack of American disposable income will never be linked with the costs of Health Care or the addiction political Elites have toward continuous pre-emptive war. NBC, a war profiteer, will be then freed to create bread and circuses about Bachman for Rome to devour, to the detriment of real change or democracy.

Re: Libya: Gaddafi faces final battle as fighting erupts in Tripoli

It's been reported that two of Khadafi's sons have been captured, and plans are being made to ship one of them to the Hague, which had indicted him for war crimes. When I saw one of Khadafi's cabinet officials on international tv imploring NATO to force the rebels into negotiations and implement a cease fire, I figured things must look pretty bleak for the old boy.

I said when this started that the only way Khadafi would leave power was if the rebels stormed his compound and dragged him out in pieces. That might actually happen. So the Libyans, after they celebrate, will find out if the devil they don't know is better than the devil they knew. The Egyptians thought they had the answer. Turns out things are not exactly going the way they'd hoped.

Fingers crossed, and I hope the Libyan people do experience a true democracy in the near future.

Good post.

I am actually wondering what his daughter is going to do. She lost her standing with the UN for supporting all of this. She seemed like she was really smart before. I am wondering if she going to be loyal to her dad, hold up in that compound, and fight to the death or what... Her husband is dead because of the civil unrest, and I think she has two children that are still alive. It's weird how this changed the direction of her life. She appears to be super dedicated to her dad. She lost her husband and child, her standing with the UN, and creditably, and she didn't have to.

Yes, they have really good news in general... It's too bad they are not broadcasted here.

They are good in general- I agree.
I wouldn't get my Israel-Palestine opinion there. Perhaps everything but.
Though they are fairer on the topic than Western Leftist dailies like Guardian.

I have Time Warner Cable in NYC.
(aka RoadRunner Net access).
The channels are regularly shuffled, but right now they're channel 92, right next to The Weather Channel/TWC 93.
CNN is 78.

Re: Libya: Gaddafi faces final battle as fighting erupts in Tripoli

Does anyone have a reliable source for info - I've been fishing around for a while and haven't come up with anything that's giving real details.

That's the best live coverage. I watched cnn for a little bit, but it wasn't that good.

Here is an article.

Nation and World News*| ajc.com

I think they are just waiting to see what Qudhaffi does now. People are dancing in the streets, and his sons have been captured. They are on the hunt to locate Qudhaffi now, and securing the rest of the capital.

And now on to the SOB in Damascus...

And now on to the SOB in Damascus...

Hopefully his reign comes to an end soon... I am kind of surprised how successful the Libyan rebels have been. I didn't really think it would end this fast. The people are brave to keep fighting despite the risks. Iran is teetering as well.

I was looking for an article - my computer's challenged (can't watch anything right now). . . tomorrow there will probably be more written coverage beyond what's been posted here.

Since tomorrow is Monday, I am sure there will be a lot of coverage... CNN's coverage didn't have any of their familiar faces or personalities. CNN's coverage was really awful, I have to say.

Is this a “mission accomplished” moment or are we in this one for the long haul?

I'm surprised too. It took them so long to slog through territory that was purportedly more friendly to them. Then they just sliced through that last stretch which should have been most loyal to Daffy. Suggests to me that Daffy had little backing even in his region of traditional support.

Is that what Big Brother told you to think?

Ah yes - armed militias and bombing people into democracy, all the trademarks of
a U.S. led color revolution.
