The republican is up in the district I thought the democrats would win and down in the district I thought the republicans would win.

Holperin , Jim (i) Dem 3,257 54%
Simac , Kim GOP 2,813 46%


Steitz , Jonathan GOP 5,982 56%
Wirch , Bob (i) Dem 4,725 44%
 
Looks like Dems will win both.

It won't really mean anything if they do not enact legislation to weaken union power, until that happens the democrats can claim that the republicans won't do anything because they learned their lesson after losing a seat or two.

They already have, the unions failed to overturn the senate. The only thing left is the recall of scott walker, which if they lose, it will be their defeat.
 
There's also next year's elections. The Republicans are down to a one-seat majority....

Didn't a judge overturn previous legislation that weakened union power? If this is truly a victory then they should enact legislation that will stand up to legal challenges.

Nope, it was only delayed, the Wisconsin supreme court upheld it.
 
The real battle will be recalling the governor. It will be interesting to see how that one turns out. Sadly we have to wait a year to find out.
