Actually, that is not correct. Until tonight, I have never said anything about Obama alongside the word Marxist. The only reason I did is others, perhaps you, brought it into the conversation. Had that not been done, I would not have made any comment about Obama alongside Marxist.

Yep, and I have never discussed Bachman's potential pedophilia or Paul's serial killer status.

Point being, Obama isn't a Marxist, Bachman isn't a pedophile, and Paul isn't a serial killer. It's silly to withhold judgment on these obvious questions.

You donít have your facts straight. Not raising the debt ceiling could have been done without a debt default. You might not agree with the austerity measures but your accusation is invalid.

That is a good point! My prediction is that Perry will win the primary election, because unlike all the other candidates he appeals to both the crazy and the old school wings of the the GOP.

You won't get an answer from him on that, I have already asked the same question. It seems the marching orders have not been issued yet.

How do you explain Palinís continued popularity within the GOP despite relentless media/liberal attacks aimed at bringing her down?

I think you are as guilty of the sexism/racism that you pretend to abhor. I do know that you donít know jack about republicans if you think the way you do.

Good point eh? Do you really think conservatives won’t elect a woman because they think she belongs in the kitchen? Do you get out much?

Someone actually said that? wow... has he not been paying attention at all to recent politics?

it's all about nuance. not raising the debt ceiling would not necessarily have resulted in a default (that's something a lot of people have failed to realize), but nevertheless, it would have been a rather destructive outcome that i really would prefer not to think about. And for those who insisted that crashing the economy by not raising the debt ceiling was somehow worth it, i have got to question their ability to appraise reality.

nevertheless, i don't believe Bachmann is a serious contender for the nomination, much less the general election. Right now Romney leads, and Perry is probably the obvious second choice. The Ames straw poll, IMO, is pretty much meaningless.

Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

Actually it is worth thinking about because it was after the debt ceiling agreement was reached that the US credit rating was downgraded. It showed that the government is not serious in looking after its debts and was judged accordingly.

Furthermore, the Obama Administration should have seen this coming and had a budget in place well before this 'crisis' ever appeared. The American government is no longer deserves a triple A rating. Bachmann was correct.
